"I had a very bad customer experience in Egan's jewellers when trying to return a chain that I purchased the week previous that had broken. I had the receipt for the purchase of the chain which included the purchase of the E25 chain and a battery for a watch for E9. The receipt was not itemised to outline the individual purchases (see picture attached). The sales assistant made a big issue of the fact that I had no box with the return as she explained there would be a barcode on it with the specifics of the purchase. I explained there was no barcode on the box that I had but she insisted there would be. She completely dismissed what I said & talked over me insisting the barcode would be on the box. I offered to call my husband to read out the barcode on the box that was at home and she said there was no point as they had to scan it. Unfortunately for her I have worked in retail and know you can key in any barcode manually. She proceeded to bring out the chains I could choose from to replace the chain I had purchased. She covered the tags of each chain she showed me so i couldn't see the price. I had paid E25 for the one i purchased. I asked the price of one particular chain which she said was E20. She set it down as she picked up another and the price tag showed E15. Naturally enough I was disgusted at the lie so I pointed out that the chain she told me was E20 was actually E15. She picked up the next chain and did the same, covering the tag so I couldn't see the price. She even walked away to another desk to cut the tag off before she gave it to me to put to my neck to try it on. I had lost trust in the jewellers at this stage and so i asked for a refund which she replied I couldn't have because the was barcode was missing and SHE'D have to look for a barcode to scan. Following picking the previous chain she had given me as a replacement the sales assistant proceeded to lecture me on caring for the chain. I had previously explained how the chain had broken and she told me I must have tugged it too much and that was the cause of it breaking. Again I explained how it broke and there was no undue force applied and the chain had broken very easily. Still, she said it wouldn't have broken that easily. I am not a dishonest person nor am i unreasonable but the appalling treatment i received from this sales assistant was uncalled for and unfair. If Egans jewellers have an ethos to belittle and mistreat their customers they are succeeding. This was a small purchase for me on this occasion from Egans but i have made sizeable purchases in their store in years gone by. That is the case no more. I will never darken the door of that jewellers again after the treatment I received. Pictures of the box WITHOUT a barcode included and a copy of the un-itemised receipt from my purchase a week previous."

"We had an appointment there on Saturday to pick my engagement ring. Paul asked me ideas and explained all about the rings he was so helpful, for the final decision Sabrina came in and gave me her opinion as i couldn't decide! They were so patient as they understand its a very big decision. Over all lovely staff, beautiful selection of rings and your big moment is truely appreciated . We will definitely be back for our Wedding rings x"
