"This was my first cruise with Robert Marchant from Dunmore East Sea School, Waterford. I found this cruise through Crewseekers. Having recently completed my Day-skipper practical in the tidal waters around Anglesey. I was looking to get more experience in boat handling, navigation and yacht husbandry. This cruise delivered in spades. We had excellent sailing weather throughout and covered 365 nautical miles from Saturday to Saturday with some cracking night sailing to and from the Isle of Man out of Waterford via Dublin, Arklow, Kilmore Quay and a visit to the Saltees. Robert is a very experienced skipper and he has a hands off approach, but he’s there when you need him. He is very happy to discuss theory and anything to do with yachting without making it feel like a training course. I was Skipper for the day at Roberts suggestion to help towards the Coastal Skipper exam. This gave a good insight into passage planning and safety at sea etc. There is a contribution to be made and in my case it was €600, for this get you the sailing, bed, breakfast & lunch and the occasional dinner for the whole cruise plus a great experience. On the other days it was into town to find some great food and a few pints of the black stuff. I’ve learnt a lot this week with my highlight entering Dublin main port in the dark using pilotage. I’m now looking into my coastal skipper based on these experience."

"I came across Robert on Crewseekers and after a few phone calls, signed up to join him on a cruise of Croatia with 6 other sailors of mixed ability. What an amazing trip ! "Robert Marchant coordinated and undertook our yacht delivery, from Bere Island to Dun Laoghaire. He made the whole process seamless for us, and kept in touch throughout the delivery trip. He is a consummate professional seaman - we trusted his judgement at every stage, and he arrived a mere 1 hour later than he had predicted when he set out four days earlier. Astonishing! Though the weather was miserable and wet as the crew arrived into the marina, they were cheerful and full of praise for the way our boat handled, and this was good to hear. Robert also had useful tips, having sailed her for a few days, and was generous with his advice. We were delighted with every aspect of the service and hope to keep in touch."
