Reviews of University hospital limerick A&E a Department
"Our worst hospital experience ever. There is a huge problem in the Emergency department at University Hospital Limerick. Seems very disorganized and unprofessional. Our 4 year old daughter got a croup attack at home, was taken to the Emergency department by ambulance. She was seen by a doctor, got steroid then was sent home. The real problem started after this. Our daughter had a fever well above 39 for 4 days when we decided to go back to the A&E dep. It was a mistake. My wife and my daughter was waited for 9 hours in the waiting room. Sitting in a chair with 39 degree fever without any treatment, without any interest about your condition by the staff, without offering any help, any food or a single glass of water is an unacceptable, disgraceful situation, especially with a little child. Yes, I know, there is priority at the A&E departments, but something is very wrong there. Hours passed without any presence of any staff. Is there no doctor available to work? Is there no nurse to work? If I go to a shop and only one person is working at the till and I need to wait longer than usual is completely understandable. But there is nothing to explain the same situation in a Hospital. I am really worried now to get any emergency situation in the future because I don't know what to expect. I believe with better organization this department could work better. Is there no doctor on call anymore? Very very frustrating and disappointing experience."
"No-one should complain about waiting here. I was on a trolley for 2 days and nights . There were 30 in zone c. The staff worked harmoniously and with great dedication and professionalism. The organisation of everyone in the hospital teams was brilliant and admirable. Wonderful teamwork. The treatment continued for all who needed it. Ex private rooms being used as treatment rooms. When people are ill and in pain they can get abusive. A few were. The staff continued with respect and patience not being involved in controversy. Ward 4A teamwork is to be highly commended. In 5 days I have seen only compassion warmth sincerity care and highly skilled staff from many parts of our planet. I thank you all and everyone who passes through this hospital should praise these wonderful people."
