"Extremely kind, helpful and knowledgeable service as always."
"Shocking customer service! My wife and I have been here before numerous times and have invested a good deal of money into this shop. We were hoping that we could continue to count on calling in for our equestrian needs for some time to come. That is just not going to happen after the way we were treated by an employee there today. We arrived at around 2pm today after looking on google maps and noticing they were open until 4pm. We excitedly drove 45 mins to get there because we had just moved our horse to a new home and needed to get a good few bits. The door was open when we arrived so we walked in. There was another customer in the shop who had said that he thought the owner may be out back fitting a saddle to a horse. He also mentioned he had been waiting about 30 mins to check out. We thought nothing of it as we were there for the good few items and decided to begin gathering some of the things we came for and figured the owner would be back up eventually. We were in no hurry. After about 15 minutes a woman walked in and stormed back behind the checkout desk and began acting out of line with the customer that had been there prior to us. Before she had even finished checking him out with his purchase she stormed across the store to where my wife and I were and in a harsh tone stated "I'm gonna need to get you up the desk and out of here right away and get out of the store"... The rest panned out as described below. My wife: "Oh my, we're very sorry. Is this something to do with Covid, too many people in the shop?" Woman (Pixie): NO, I'm just not wanting to assist you right now because I'm not even supposed to be in here right now. I have the afternoon off and the owner is doing a saddle fitting. You aren't even supposed to be in the shop. So do you want what you have in your hands or not?" Me: Well, we just happened to drive quite a ways to get here and would appreciate to be spoken to in a better manner that. The way you are coming across is extremely unacceptable and we refuse to be treated like this. Woman (Pixie): "Well... you can take it or leave it". Me: "We are actually going to leave it". At this she walked away not caring at all what monetary benefit we would bring to the business. I asked her for her name in which she replied in a harsh tone "Pixie! My name in Pixie! Why?" In which I calmly replied "Just need it for the reviews I will be posting about Porters Saddlery and our interaction with you". A few key points in why I was upset enough to write this review; - We were nothing but polite throughout the entire interaction even when we were receiving abuse from Pixie yet she would not change her demeanour. -Pixie was not wearing a mask and situated herself within 2 metres from where my wife and I were standing. - After the interaction I walked back to the back of the building where the man who I was told was the owner was doing the saddle fitting and explained to him that the woman in the shop was awfully rude. He responded "Oh, ok" and turned away from me to continue messing around with a leather strap with no interest in hearing anything further. - The fact that my wife and I are rational people and understand small business quite well. If there was a sign posted on a locked door that said anything insinuating "Busy out back, be with you shortly" we would have understood and waited patiently for our turn for attention. If this is a regular or even semi-regular occurence something as simple as this needs to be thought of. In closing, I hope this review loses you out on a few new potential buyers because of the pain caused to us while we were having nice, exiting day. We took our business elsewhere and even though we wouldn't get everything in 1 stop it was a much better experience at both other shops. The total spend you missed out on was just shy of 1K."
"Porters Saddlery is a very well run family business. They know this business backwards and their wealth of knowledge shows through in all they do."
