Reviews
"This review is for the location (newly opened) in Castledermot, not the High Cross Inn at Moone. My wife and I called in at just after 1.00pm on Saturday afternoon hoping for a quick lunch. We didn't have a reservation but there were plenty of empty tables. We were told that they had a party booking for about 25 people in a reserved area that had yet to order. Consequently, the floor staff were told not to accept any further diners, anywhere within the premises as the chef would be too busy. Fair enough, any chance of a quick sandwich we asked. This was also refused and we were turned away. They have obviously spent an awful lot on refurbishing the premises which seems to have been done to a very high standard. Not sure how they hope to ever recoup their investment if they are overwhelmed by a single party in a sectioned off area. I don't think we will bother going back as they obviously don't need our business. Shame."
"The food is great and the place itself is nice. It took a good while for our order to be taken and another good while for the food to come. Had to ask for a drink a few times as it had been forgotten. We asked for a kids menu for my daughter and it never arrived so we had to go online to check the kids menu. When I booked online I left a note to say it was my wife's birthday and asked if I could get candles put on my wife's dessert or if I could bring a cake but I didn't get a reply. I called a couple of days before the meal to ask again and was told that they could put candles in her dessert. I was told again when we arrived that it was arranged. But when the dessert arrived there were no candles. I know it's only something small but just be mindful if you are trying to do something similar. It wouldn't put me off going again as the food is genuinely great."
"I am a traveller. Went to the gas station and found this restaurant. was very hungry. The restaurant was very surprised by the interior, warmth, cuisine, cleanliness, atmosphere. Delicious. Toilets are top notch! Highly recommend."
"Everything was perfect. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. I was there with 2 friends and my baby and we had the best meal ever. The restaurant is super cosy with lovely features. I would 100% recommend it."
"Had an amazing lunch today at Bread and Beer, took the Roast Pork Loin and Apple Parfait for dessert. The pork loin cooked to perfectly the right texture, the mash potato and the roast potato also taste good and do not taste plain/ tasteless like most restaurants had. Gravy not too salty and are perfect. Apple Parfait is a bonus after lunch, this dessert will definitely light up the rest of ypur day"
