"Amazing experience at the fairy fort farm! fairy forts have always been important to me, so for me to see it in person while staying near by was a once in a life time experience. The frog pond and the trails throughout the farm are great for photography. Really recommend staying here, especially if you are a lover of the “good old days”! The bedroom i stayed in was cozy, comfortable and satisfied my need to revisit my irish heritage! The cottage had a rural irish vibe to it while being practical and functional."
"If you're an animal lover please visit this place. "Who this place is for: city folk looking for a calm, country getaway; foreigners looking to experience a quaint, quiet Irish farm; anyone who loves nature, animals, and wilderness. Who this is not for: paranoid health and safety nuts, and anyone who isn’t able to let go, and experience a simpler time in a world of years gone by. I stayed here with my wife on our honeymoon a few months after the day-to-day running of the farm passed to Derry when his father, Michael, passed away. It was amazing! There’s nature walks, quaint cottages built by hand, and pet farm animals who are as “free range” as one could ask for! Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes for walks to see the “fairy fort,” “frog pond,” and the creek and waterfall. The weeds are a bit hard to control. The sheep and goats are friendly, the bunnies are cute, and the dog will make you feel as welcome as any human could! Pablo the pig helps make sure that most waste from your stay that isn’t recyclable (food scraps) is disposed of in an environmentally responsible way! The bed is comfy, and the little cottages are as cute and humble as one would imagine when dreaming of a quiet Irish getaway from the hustle and bustle from a major American or European city. Warm during the cold nights, and comfy during the summer days, these little cottages were built or refurbished by hand by the farm’s founder, Michael. In the nearby town of Borrisoleigh, you’ll find several small pubs frequented by locals who are friendly and welcoming - and staffed by prompt and helpful bartenders who offer cold drinks at some of the lowest prices in the country. Groceries and essentials are a quick 20 minute drive away in Templemore."
"This is my second visit to Fairy Fort Farm. It’s an absolutely charming place to get away from the city and have a break. Derry is a superb host, keeping up the tradition of his father, Michael, as a true Irish Gentleman. He even gave us a ride out of town (only a 15-20 minute walk) after a night of drinking during the Borrisoleigh summer festival. Don’t expect 5-Star hotel accommodation; you’re certainly staying on a pet farm. But the bed is comfortable, the views are superb, and there’s always a goat or farm dog happy to greet you. Stop into any of the local pubs for a pint, and you won’t be disappointed. Also groceries and two restaurants nearby. My husband and I stopped through on our Honeymoon, and we can’t wait for our next visit."
"Brilliant little farm. Nice walks. Amazing stream with a waterfall. All the animals are very cute well treated and as free range as you can get. Fairy Fort and cottage are cool also."
