Reviews of Kinlay Hostel Galway
"Probably the best hostel experience I've had. I went here with a large group and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms were a nice size and clean. It's a plus that they give you a towel which isn't always included at hostels. In my room the sink was outside the bathroom which was a bit weird, but smart when i needed to brush my teeth while someone else used the bathroom. The breakfast was decent but the selection was a bit weird. The cereal selection was great, but there wasn't any bread available which was a bit weird. There was scones and banana bread though if you wanted something bread like. The possibility to use the kitchen was nice and the reception had both a guitar and a piano."
"The service was absolutely lovely and welcoming, in a way I really appreciated, coming from gloomy Dublin. Nice breakfast, nothing crazy, but nice and reliable with enough options to be satisfied. I lived in a dorm for 3 nights and a double bed room for 4 nights after that. The dorm was what you'd expect for the price, really nothing to write home about, very by the book, minimalist rooms. The double bed room, however, was incredible. Very spacious with a large double bed, television, towels etc. Everything a quality hotel would provide. They can also wash your clothes for 10 euros, which I recommend. Everything was washed, dried and folded neatly in a big plastic bag. Special shoutout to Trinity and Pam for being so lovely!"
"I booked a solo room and got my own room of bunk beds! It was very spacious. The staff left me a water and bag of chips/crisps too, plus a note, which was a nice touch! They run tours from the ground floor and they don't start overly early, plus breakfast goes to a decent hour, if you're not a morning person; however, it is just cereal, breads and yogurt, so nothing fancy. Instant coffee is free, but anything else costs 1β¬. For those sharing a room, each bunk has curtains, plugs and a light, plus a big metal storage bin"
"Stayed two nights for a nearby training event. Rooms were clean, neat, and much better than others hostels I've stayed at in the past. There are charging ports and lights at every bed, even on top bunks. Pretty reasonable storage space under the beds + coat hangers + shelf above each bed. Toilets were clean, breakfast was decent. There are a lot of stairs but it's not much of a bother as there's a lift in the building."
"Well what about this hostel... In itself, it is pleasant, the breakfast served and free is a real plus. The staff is welcoming. On the other hand... it is NOT a hostel, it loses all the charm and the principle of this type of establishment. It's a bit like a factory. At least everything related to cleanliness etc is irreproachable but suddenly paying almost the price of a hotel room (admittedly a little cheaper) to end up in a dormitory... it's a bit expensive. And the price of double rooms... You might as well go to a real hotel, not a hostel."
