"I chose Carbery Sailing for my RYA Day Skipper Fasttrack after a member of my Sailing Club in Dublin did a mile builder from Ireland to Tenerife with Chris the previous Autumn. The person that recommended me was an experienced sailor, and they advised me that it was clear the experience and expertise that Chris had, and advised me if I wanted to learn something right, there was no better instructor than him. When I checked Carbery Sailing's website I was pleased to see that they offered an RYA Day Skipper Fasttrack course were the theory aspect was actually taught in person, and not just taught online. This was exactly what I was looking for and I booked immediately. The theory aspect was taught in the beautiful community of Ahakista over the first four days, and any concerns with concepts I had were quickly explained to me by Chris. When we moved on to the practical aspect, what I particularly enjoyed was that the course was specifically for Day Skipper's, and not a mix of those that had never stepped foot on a boat, and aspiring Day Skipper's. This meant that I got the full benefit of the miles we completed on water, and the training was tailored specifically to my level. On a personal level, myself and my co-students got on really well with Chris, and shared many a good meal and story when we weren't learning the skills required to obtain the licence. I couldn't recommend this school enough. Thanks again Chris!"
"A superb 4 hour sailing experience on "Merlin", a beautifully maintained 46 foot cruising yacht. Chris, the skipper & Mike his crew were terrific, both knowledgeable & professional, yet handling the 4 inexperienced sailor guests with calm reassurance & yet all having fun & all allowed to con the yacht if they wanted to. "Merlin" is kept in pristine condition & is a pleasure to cruise in - everything works. Excellent value at β¬50 pp, inclusive of coffee/tea, biscuits soup & rolls, for a great experience & an opportunity to circumnavigate Dunmanus Bay. The weather & tides behaved themselves too ! A real added bonus was that we were collected at the Ahakista Pier at the agreed time & likewise brought back on time. This is very important for holiday events as one often has other commitments, with other people depending on your return at the agreed time. I have had some very unsatisfactory sailing experiences of gross unpunctuality, with all its knock-on effects & this did not happen with Carbery Sailing ! Thank you Chris & Mike. JBD. 19/08/2014"
