Reviews of Cronins Yard
"Cronins Yard is a fantastic place to explore the Reeks. Fantastic welcome and fabulous snacks and very reasonable. We had soup and brown bread and apple tart. Great place to relax and the staff are second to none"
"Been to cronins yard many many times and I'm always met with kindness and friendship. Plenty of parking even on the busier days, lovely space for camping out in the tent and so handy having use of the toilets and showers. The tea rooms are a welcomed sight at the end of a hike and staff are always interested to hear how your hike went."
"Perfect spot to camp/hike Carrauntoohil and the Reeks, John and his wife are super friendly and knowledgeable. Great toasties, soup, tea etc in the little tea house after a hike. Toilets and showers are spotless, small charge for the showers, parking is only €2.Highly recommended if you are a hillwalker/climber/camping"
"Cronin’s yard is a beautifully located site. Right next to Carrauntoohill. We stayed in a “glamping pod” for a few nights. The pod had a bed, a light and a power socket. So it was pretty minimal for the €70 a night we payed. However, the location and the view made up for that. There is a possibility to camp with a tent as well, those fields were also very nice. The kitchen has an electric kettle, washing up area, microwave, fridge and freezer. Which were very convenient. The biggest downside to the place is the washroom area. There is just one toilet for each gender. And the showers are in a locker room style setup. The showers were unreasonably prices for 1 euro per minute! so if you want to take a decent shower, better bring enough €1 coins. The shop has a nice selection of hiking gear and food, they offer sandwiches too for €3,5 that you can take on hikes. Altogether a nice place to stay, especially when bringing a tent."
"Very nice place, parking fee 2€, the best place to start your journey to Carrauntoohil mountain. They have a shop, a restaurant, bathrooms, showers and a camping area. Very friendly staff, clean place, handy area to start your journey from. The trails are nicely marked, ant there is a sign saying “Not to follow applications trails”. You need water as the hike is quite difficult and long enough. Good luck everyone!!!!"
