Reviews of The New Haven
"In a bit of a quandary with this review. We have eaten three times at New Haven. The first time was great, choosing beef short ribs and an oyster mushroom pasta dish. Fantastic quality and taste. We tried then to get another table but the place was always full and there are no bookings taken. These fueled our efforts to keep trying and eventually we jagged a table for meal 2. This time we really wished we hadn't bothered. Chicken wings, whilst cooked through, were flabby skinned, very blonde and not enticing at all. And a half chicken in Port sauce was just that. Plainly cooked with a separate sauce over the top. No intensity or flavour imparted. Very disappointing. Still, we fondly remembered that first meal so decided to give New Haven one last chance. We had cod with sauce and chicken skewers. The chicken was nice. Not up to night one's levels, but OK. Tender chicken with a sort of butter chicken sauce over the top. However the cod dish was abysmal. A tint portion with unappetising flabby skin, tasteless thin sauce and watery, flavourless, overcooked flesh, with several bone shards. On the plate, potato squares included two bad pieces, inedible, which were just removed by the waitress. The first one taken away, fine. But when the second one was pointed out, the plate should have been taken, checked, then returned, instead of just taking the piece away again. Not even an apology. Pathetic New Haven. Won't be be back again."
"The staff here are fantastic, they make the restaurant the success that it is. During a busy weekend we were squeezed in at the last minute and we had a really nice meal. Thanks to everyone at the New Haven, we really enjoyed our time there!"
"its always been nice there, however the last visit was a takeaway - the pepperroni is some sort of luncheon roll texture and another pizza i asked for "just pesto and goats cheese only" - which was added to a Margherita. the whole point was due to a mozerella allergy. obviosly a miscommunication (i didn't specify my allergy) but i couldn't eat it and by the time i realised it at home there wasnt much point in returning to them."
"Book a table!!! This place is amazing! Huge queue all the time, no wonder why. The food tastes like heaven! Various selection of starters, mains and desserts! Fresh fish dishes every day. Can not even decide which starter should i eat, all of them are delicious! Lots of type of drinks as well. The staff is very helpful and kind. Prices are good to quality and value. I'll be back for sure. One of the best Pizza i found in Westcork! And the harbour is in 2 min walk with a beatiful view."
"Great food and service, highly recommended. Beautifully cooked hake and the chocolate fondant was to die for. Kids had pizza and childrens hake, all enjoyed"
