"Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit The Poor Relation, despite having zero expectations beforehand. At first glance, it appeared to be just another ordinary pub. However, as we entered, we noticed a small yet efficient YAY! kitchen to the left of the bar. The staff greeted us warmly, and informed us that they were about to close the kitchen but had enough for us two available, and encouraged us to place our orders if we wanted to. I chose the “some like it hot” burger for the while my companion chose the "American Boy" with a side of potatoes. We settled into one of the cozy booths near the window, instantly creating an intimate atmosphere. To our luck, our burgers arrived just ten minutes later. The first bite bursted all the juiciness from the meat, perfectly complemented by the sweet and delectable brioche buns and everything in between. Every ingredient seemed to possess an unbelievably rich flavor. As for the potatoes, they struck a harmonious balance of not being overly salty yet still packed with taste, thanks to the delightful combination of garlic and herbs that truly amused our taste buds. In terms of pricing, YAY! Burger offers a range of options, with prices ranging from €9 to €14, if I remember it correctly. These prices are exceptionally good compared to other burger places in Cork, where you often end up paying €14 for a basic burger of just bread and patty. If I were to select one place in Cork to satisfy my hunger and burger craves, this would undoubtedly be my top choice, as it surpasses all others in terms of quality, atmosphere, friendliness and overall the taste."
"Great burgers but super pricey for what you get. Not even chips with it, you order potatoes extra.....I think we try them in West Cork next time, they might be cheaper. Going out nowadays is or course more expensive and I can imagine that is it tough to run a business but I think I will think twice before doing this again."
"Gone here many times and every time it is absolutely sensational. I couldn’t suggest a better dining experience. Wonderful people, amazing interior design."
