"Very nice warm traditional Irish pub. The owner is very welcoming and professional in his duties and never leaves you waiting for a refill. The guinness is superb."
"Love this bar..michael is such a gentleman and ud always get a warm welcome from him"
"It is worth driving from Dublin purely to visit this gem of a pub. There aren't many left like it. We had been staying at the nearby Blackwater Castle and went for a wander around the village. Had to go into the pub to find out if it was as good as it looked - it was much better. We were cordially greeted by the landlord Michael O'Leary and were quickly engaged in friendly conversation with him and the locals at the bar. We wondered about food in the village. Michael told us that there was a good Turkish kebab takeaway two doors up which does great food in very large portions. The owner would deliver the order to the pub where Michael invited us to eat the food. Sure enough when we went out that evening, we placed an order with the very friendly proprietor who true to his word trotted into the pub, in his chef's whites, with our order fifteen minutes later. We prepared to get greasy fingers but Michael came from behind the bar with plates, cutlery and two glasses of water. Castletown Roche is a very interesting small town/village. Very pretty and friendly with much interesting history. Mills and substantial town houses indicating significant prosperity pre-Independence. The town would be a good base for anyone wanting to explore beautiful and interesting North Cork."
"We had the pleasure of visiting The Rockforest Bar in October 2021. The time we spent there was the highlight of our entire trip to Ireland. We were warmly welcomed and immediately fell in with the local folks having a pint at the bar. The wasn't any live music due to covid restrictions, but we all sang songs acapella for hours. The craic was the best of anywhere in Ireland! We were able to order food at the Kebab house a few doors down. We told them we were at Rockforest and they delivered it to the bar. Overall amazing, unforgettable experience. I left with sore sides from laughing so much and new friends."
"Great little pub with the best atmosphere! They recommended that we walked over to the kebab house to order food and walk back for beer. The Kebab house walked our order over! We had Guinness and our hot food next to a roaring fire. Hehehe the best! It was a few years ago but this town was our favorite and this pub was one of the main reasons."
