The Royal Hotel Valentia

"A strange dining experience this evening at the Royal Valencia Hotel. From the moment we walked in we were ignored, took some time to be served a drink, had to find our own table, then ask for a menu. When finally served no offer of water, wine or drinks was made. The meal was good but it appeared that residents of the hotel were receiving very attentive service and we received none. We finished our meal and no one offered anything further, so we got to pay at the bar, not asked did you enjoy your meal. We left not to return! A real shame as we travel a lot and enjoy dining out and just found the whole experience weird and very disappointing. The meal we had in Dingle two nights ago for example was superb in every respect. My wife and I did not appreciate being called "Lads" by the waiter! We know this review will have no impact whatsoever, but we hope future customers fair better than we did!"

"We love to eat almost each week at the Royal. As locals, the most appreciable is that this restaurant is open all year, even in winter, and not only in summer like other tourist traps around. The atmosphere is very cosy , the food is excellent and the service is very efficient. Important : Just mind to book your table on the Internet to avoid any disappointment."

"My family recently stayed at the Royal for one evening and we loved it. Excellent service; great food; lovely and helpful staff, and a well-stocked bar. The only knock was they had _just_ installed new carpets in our room and on the floor, and the fumes were very strong. Highly recommended!"

"The Best of the Best! I am on a very special tour of Ireland and have just moved to Limerick. I was so sad to leave this beautiful hotel where the best traditions of hospitality are alive and well. Where else could you find a room with a four poster bed and a view of the Atlantic -just thirty paces away! This wonderful place holds the title of "Best of the Best" awarded by Tripadvisor. Valentia Island is superb to explore and by night - with luck - you will find the starry skies of your dreams. And great tip, if you can, phone them direct first. You could get the best price."
