Reviews of Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa
"I booked a two night stay with my daughter. A special weekend for just the two of us, so a Spa weekend was important. Overall very happy with the venue, location and staff. Would recommend. The reasons I decided on Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa was, I felt the cost was better than most, I also booked a slightly better then normal room, to make our stay even more special. Breakfast and Dinner package was included in the cost. Not making my daughter who is 11 feel unwelcome in the Spa. Most Spa's are 16 and up. She was able to enjoy all the facilities that I was at the same times. Appreciate she was too young for any treatments. Location was important for shopping and the Telford Centre was only a 20 minute drive away. Staff were very good. The only negative I had, was my starter in the restaurant was cold. I did inform staff. After a busy day shopping we decided to order room service on the Saturday, this was delivered in good time and food was still hot. Some areas of the hotel looked a little tired, however I am the first to admit I am fussy. Just needed a little touch up in some areas where walls had been knocked or scraped."
"Booked a package through secret escapes for my birthday. Overall the staff were pleasant. At check in we were pleasantly welcomed and able to check into our room a little earlier We had lunch in the bar area, food did take a while to arrive but it tasted nice. Food and drinks were pricey, but I expected this. Our package including a 2 course evening meal but unfortunately the restaurant was not open on the evening we were staying, however we were able to have our meal in the bar area. The food was nice but the chairs we were sat at were uncomfortable. Our package also included access to the spa facilities, unfortunately the spa facilities were underwhelming. The pool was cold, the jacuzzi was not in operation, the some of the saunas and steam rooms were not working, there was no relaxing spa music being played in the background, not enough lounge chairs. When I entered the spa reception it smelt like paint, it would have been a more pleasant experience if there was a nice relaxing aroma throughout the spa area. Prior to arrival I called up to book my treatments, I was told that I was not able to have treatments which involved massaging, so this was also disappointing. In the meantime be I had a manicure and pedicure but I could have just painted my finger and toenails myself and as previously mentioned the overall experience could have been improved with spa music and having a relaxing aroma such as scented candles or diffusers. Breakfast was nice and there was enough choice. Check out was easy enough although when we departed we were not asked how our stay"
"Stayed for a week on business. Extremely attentive staff! Rooms are slightly dated (school master's building) but this is in keeping with the overall character and charm of the estate. Would look odd with modern furnishings, but a new carpet might be welcome. Food was truely excellent. Both breakfast and dinner, and again staff are really attentive. The Spa is great, 2 saunas, 2 steam rooms, large pool, jacuzzi, ice room...and after 7pm I pretty much had it all to myself. The cable machine in the free weights area of the gym needs repair. Surprised by some of the negative reviews. People watch far too much Four in a Bed these days. Look forward to returning next year from March for further business visits. Thank you to your team!"
"Beautiful historic buildings (though in need of a little TLC in places) and lovely grounds. Stunning panelled dining room serving delicious food. Great spa facilities and a welcoming bar with a good menu. The hotel's greatest asset is its staff. Warm, friendly, helpful, efficient. Lovely people."
"What a wonderful find! Beautiful ambience and charm Albrighton Hall tells a story as you walk through it. From the sun dial clock on the front outside of the Hotel - quite unique, to the traditional character of the interior. I wanted to raise several important points to bring up please: 1. A great welcome by the Reception team with a lovely introduction to the hotel. 2. A really lovely room overlooking the beautiful lake and fountain. This was just a pleasure as I had just had quite a stressful day. 3. An amazing walk of the grounds including the beautiful Fountain area. Wonderful grounds very well looked after. 4. A tasty drink in the bar area, then sat outside admiring the peaceful view. 5. Amazing service in the restaurant with very attentive kind staff. Very traditional and tasty food. I sent a compliment to the Chef about my very good Chicken it really was lovely. 6. A very good night sleep. 7. A tasty and wholesome breakfast with again very attentive, prompt and courteous team members. The staff make this hotel - I have always said that makes it. What a huge difference during my recent stay - I am loving the changes you have made and the greatly improved service quality. You can really see a Team effort here. There is no 'I' in team and they have got it right! Thank you! During my stay I will be making notes of anyone particularly special that goes 'beyond the call of duty' for a special mention at the end of my report. Watch out for me with my clipboard."
