The Peace Maze 6-8 Burren Walk, Castlewellan BT31 9AF
About the Business
Welcome to The Peace Maze, a unique establishment located in the beautiful town of Castlewellan in the United Kingdom. We are a park, point of interest, and tourist attraction all in one! Our institution is home to an incredible maze which has become a symbol of peace and reconciliation, making it a must-see destination for visitors of all ages.
Our maze spans an impressive two and a half acres and is made up of thousands of Irish yew trees, carefully crafted to create a challenging and stimulating labyrinth. It is, in fact, the largest permanent hedge maze in the world! Visitors can explore the maze at their leisure, working together to navigate the twists and turns or competing to see who can reach the center first.
But The Peace Maze is more than simply a tourist attraction. In 2000, we were created as a permanent land symbol of Northern Ireland's path to peace and reconciliation. Since then, we have welcomed visitors from all over the world, providing a space for people to learn about Northern Ireland's turbulent past and its ongoing journey towards building a more peaceful and inclusive future.
In addition to the maze, we also offer a range of activities and facilities designed to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. You can take a stroll around our beautiful gardens or attend one of our many events and workshops, which cover topics such as peace-building, community development, and social inclusion. We also offer a cafe and gift shop, where you can fuel up on refreshments or find the perfect souvenir to take home with you.
The Peace Maze is a true gem in the heart of Northern Ireland. Whether you're visiting Castlewellan for the first time or you're a local resident, we look forward to welcoming you to our institution and sharing our commitment to peace and reconciliation with you.

"Great wee day out with the kids. First time here and thoroughly enjoyed it the maze keeps the kids entertained for a while. There is a coffee trailer and toilet facilities however there is £5 carpark fee. Views were amazing."
"So much fun!!! Three of us raced and ended teaming up with each other. It took us about 1 hour to complete. Would definitely come back and visit"
"A wonderful place to spend time outdoors with family and friends. I recommend seeing this place."
"An amazing day out, or better still somewhere to camp and have an adventure. From kayaking to hiking etc."
"Got lost and loved it. I haven't been in a maze for many years and my partner and I really enjoyed this. It felt like just the right difficulty level and probably took us around twenty minutes to complete. The reward is a fantastic view of the Mournes. Quite a few families out at the same time as us and the children seemed to enjoy it; either leading the way, jumping out at people or directing others from vantage points."
