Reviews of Gielgud Theatre
"Lovely grand theatre with ornate decor. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, ushers were attentive and chatty, bar staff were fast with a smile. They all looked engaged in their jobs . My only small complaint was that it was cold....but fine once the performance got going. I completely understand this due to the crippling energy costs businesses are facing. Just kept my coat on for the start so no problem."
"Beautiful theatre near London’s Chinatown. Really convenient to come watch a show and have some food before or after. The theatre itself is gorgeous! Staff are really nice. Bar is open almost an hour before show starts so one can come early, enjoy a drink, sit down and relax. It’s absolutely fantastic!"
"Saw to kill a mockingbird 27th Dec '22. Entrance to theatre was easy, lots of staff and no need to queue. Cloakroom is available at £1 per item. Multiple bars available for drinks, expensive but expected. Was sitting in front row of grand circle, view of stage was amazing but front row has seriously reduced leg room, wouldn't recommend for taller or larger people. Second row I think would be better. Long queue for ladies toilets at the interval. Production itself was great, excellent performances and stage scenes were great, excellent transitions."
"Very attractive theatre, probably one of the more compact in London’s West End. The view from the Dress Circle was good and the seats were surprisingly comfortable. Easy access to the bar and toilets at the interval, with friendly staff throughout. The play itself, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, was simply outstanding. Three hours of bittersweet pleasure. It’s just a shame that prices are out of reach for many people, hence 4 stars."
"We went recently to watch To Kill a Mockingbird Bird. It was an excellent production with outstanding performances by all. I was sat in the Grand Circle Row C, seat 2. I think it is always helpful to know the type of view you will get. It was partially obstructed. So we missed some of the action in the far corner. But the tickets were priced accordingly. We paid £30 each. For the ladies, there is a ladies bathroom very close to these seats, which is handy. But be warned, you need to be quick as there are only two cubicles. So it's either a long wait in the queue or a trek to find alternative facilities. We went on a very hot day, but the theatre itself was lovely and cool, and the bar served ice cold refreshments."
