Reviews
"Previously I've been treated very poorly over the last say 3 or 4 years. Today I had a breakthrough with a new and very good doctor. She looked me in eye while I explained my issues. She listened and she acted responsibly. The first time in years I've had a genuine heartfelt experience with a doctor. If you read this it's Liam and I hope to see you again when I need you. Thank you so much."
"A very dangerous GP practice, I wouldn't recommend for anyone or their loved ones to use it, very dishonest GPs, one male GP constantly dismisses anything you say, he constantly interrupts and speaks over you even when all you are doing is trying to explain a problem or answer the questions he asks. Multiple doctors at the surgery discriminate against people with mental health issues, if you have anxiety even if it's just mild every physical promblem you have is due to your anxiety which prevents you from getting the treatment you need. Please for your own health and safety stay away from the practice."
"Both my wife and I have had recent medical problems. I was diagnosed over the phone which was spot on. Medication obtained same day. Referred for x-ray. Phone call from hospital same day for appointment following day. Contacted by GP four days later with result. My wife phoned am and was asked to attend surgery. Diagnosed and medication obtained same day. Contacted by surgery five days later to make sure everything was ok. Brilliant service."
"This surgery regularly missed or simply cancelled prescriptions without informing us, meaning my infant son went without required prescriptions. They also missed telephone appointments/call backs, again leading to patient care suffering. A number of issues were put into a complaint letter to the practice manager, to which out of the 7 discrepancies, only 2 were addressed/acknowledged. Once an appeal to higher NHS powers was lodged, we finally got the care expected by the surgery, but it should not take this stress, patient neglect and 2 appeals for this to happen."
"Like most GP practices the wait to get appointments are long, the reception staff are overstretched, and over reliance on telephone appointments mean that diagnosis and treatment is poor. I can accept all of that to be honest. I blame the terrible underfunding of the NHS. As a public sector worker myself, they have my sympathy and understanding. What I absolutely cannot accept is rudeness. It's not just me, two friends who have seen the same male doctor at this practice have had the same experience. Last year my friend had a chest infection for a month and his word for word response was, "Well what do you expect me to do about it?" In my latest (telephone) appointment he told me to stop taking essential medication prescribed by a hospital saying, "I don't know what you're on that for, I suppose you think it's important." It makes a mockery of the practice mission statement: "Craneswater Group Practice prides itself … [on] … providing friendly, caring .. medical services to all our patients. Our vision is to offer … patient-focused care, delivered by a team of dedicated, professional and enthusiastic staff…compassion [is]… at the heart of our practice ethos." And it's more important than some hurt feelings. I cried after that appointment. I felt awful, he made it very clear that he thought I was wasting his time (I wasn't). I'll be avoiding going there again, as will my friend, hence if we get ill we won't have a doctor to go to that we trust and our care will be impaired. He also doesn't follow up on patient care. There was no way I was coming off that medication, no way! I just now ordered a repeat prescription of it to see what would happen. I waited to do that before I wrote this review. Yep, he signed it off. Clearly didn't look at my notes, didn't query that I was still taking it. In summary, really poor care from a really unpleasant doctor who does not act like a professional. I'm going to stay at the practice and just refuse to have an appointment with him ever again. But it doesn't inspire confidence in the practice. It's clearly a known problem in the practice (or would be if anyone read and responded to these comments – see below for other people commenting on the rudeness of a male doctor, I will bet a lot of money that it’s the same person) and has been going on for at least three years. Maybe he's stressed from the job, I'm sympathetic. But his attitude puts patients in danger."
