Reviews of Abington Park Veterinary Surgery
"Avoid at ALL COSTS!!!!! My beautiful Jack Russell passed away last week after the poor and heartless approach we had from Abington Park Veterinary kept us back and forth with medicine for him while the poor thing was suffering from cancer and they never bothered to check him properly. They only kept confirming the dog is in great health until one night he could barely breathe and rushed him into VetsNow in Moulton where he had to be euthanized as it was too late. Hundreds and hundreds of pounds while going back and forth and to top it off they wanted £300 for a night emergency visit and £200+ for the ultrasound and euthanasia. Cruel, heartless and oh so very ignorant. Please do think about it again if you're planning to take your pets there, this is the second pet i have lost with them and by all means there won't ever, EVER be a third. I will never forgive them for the heartlessness they've shown to my poorly, dying boy. The pain cannot be put in words. It wasn't easy to face the first day without him. What hurts the most is that if if they did their job properly and take at least a blood sample I could have saved him. Countless times of going back and forth, £80 the visit, another £30 or so the medicine, a pat on the back and always the usual "he's a very healthy boy, try these medicines and see if he gets better". £300 for a blood test, then always a ludicrous price for any other treatments, like how greedy can you be??? I'm happy to pay for my pet but I'm not a millionaire, these aren't the days to be greedy and step on peoples' most painful and weakest moments to absorb as much as possible out of them. The night I rushed him in I did tell that doctor I don't have the money for a 2k surgery, what do you do when people are struggling to pay? Do you just leave the poor thing to die? Are you normal? Guess what he said. "Are you on benefits? Cause if you are you can claim it on there". That's when I lost it cause never in my life have I ever earned a single penny without working for it. I found that so insulting, the fact I don't have 2k for each surgery coming up doesn't mean I sit on my backside demanding free money. But they can't see that nor the inflation, especially when they charge £300 per client for a night visit! Then suggested euthanasia would be the only solution. I have asked around about this place and EVERYONE sadly had very similar experiences with them. If anyone knows an official place or website to report them I would be very grateful to you."
"Was quoted a price for our pet to be put to sleep. Went in on said date for the vet Dr Pinto to immediately throw down a badly photocopied piece of paper of the urns. They were indistinguishable from one another. Only seemed concerned about the price and getting it done as soon as possible. Was told a price considerably more than what was told on the phone. Told her that it was not what I was quoted on the phone, for her to disappear while we waited ten minutes in agony. They were listening to the phone conversation I had 2 days before. I finally got a real urn brochure from the receptionist, after walking out the consulting room to see where the vet had disappeared to. The price I was quoted was honoured, after an agonizing ten minute wait, that did not need to happen. A really bad and painful day, made worse than what it needed to be. Cannot accept the apology they sent or forgive. That was our little boys last day."
"Today I received a call from Jan,, Abingdon Referrals Insurance Team, concerned that’s she had not received any paperwork regarding the insurance claim following surgery on Harvey. Now that’s what I call good old customer service! It didn’t really matter to the practice as they had been paid by me but Jan appreciated it was a large sum and wanted to make sure everything in place for me to be reimbursed. I chased my insurance company and prompted them to send request for my pets history. They had not even done this yet nearly 4 weeks after my claim went in. Jan rang back in the afternoon to advise she had now received request and sent everything required over to them. Thank you Jan for going that extra mile. Fingers crossed for reimbursement before Christmas"
