"Nice place to hangout in Derby city centre"
"Public gardens on the banks of the River Derwent in the heart of the city centre....it should be superb.... unfortunately it isn't. Whilst it's nice enough during the day, it has a different atmosphere at night, it's pretty grim to be honest. Recently re-developed.... and shortly thereafter vandalized, with what should have been Derby's shining light, the Riverlights development, unfortunately built at a 90° angle to the river so pretty much useless. Whilst there's some nice grassy areas and lots of water birds to feed it's also incredibly dirty and slightly threatening at night. By all means have a walk around it, feed the birds, and enjoy your lunch during the day.... just avoid it at night."
