Reviews of Dog Trouble
"I would not recommend boarding your dog here. Our young dog came out of this place after a short stay clearly very unhappy - he was extremely subdued / shut down and absolutely exhausted. The staff also lost 2 of the items we sent him with and he was walked out on a fig 8 slip lead when we picked him up - not something we had given permission to be used. He has stayed at two other kennels several times and with a home boarder with no similar effects. We will not be returning. Edit to add - I raised my concerns immediately when picking our boy up and was told he was his 'normal happy self' which was clearly not the case. The only other comments from the staff were that his recall needed work (true) and this had made it hard to provide exercise for him and that they did not know what had happened to his missing bedding / antler (the antler was replaced)."
"Dog Trouble are without any doubt the best service of their kind. We have a rescue with behavioural issues who we couldn't leave with any other kennel or dog sitter - we didn't have a holiday for four years before we found Dog Trouble. The Dog Trouble staff are the most compassionate and competent people you could wish to leave your dog with, and they have really changed our lives for the better. Not only do we feel totally confident leaving our dog with them, but he actually comes back happier and more at ease in situations which used to phase him - our dog was particularly terrified of men, but somehow Ronan (one of the Dog Trouble Staff) and him became best friends within the space of a week. They are actual miracle workers, and we can't recommend them enough. Thank you Dog Trouble!"
"I would not recommend Dog Trouble puppy classes if you would like to train your dog through praise and positive associations. I was not comfortable that slip leads were used in lesson one for the entire training session. Jo was clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about dogs and shared some very useful information with us, both verbally and in a pack, that we all received on arrival. There is no disputing that Jo’s methods work, they just weren’t for me and my puppy. At the time I did not have the confidence to express my concerns. I did not realise until after the class that if I had we could have used a different approach."
"I highly recommend Jo Cottrell for a dog trainer. She possesses extensive knowledge of dog behaviour. Jo is caring, professional and skilled at seeing what is needed to help dogs and owners succeed in their relationship. She uses positive training techniques which is key in helping you grow the relationship between you and your dog. I attended a two day work workshop at trouble dogs with my rescue dog Dodo, the staff were very welcoming and helpful, lovely place to do the training, lovely paddocks and farm animals, helping Dodo to socialise with different animals. Thank you Jo and staff. xx"
