"Very good facilities and friendly, helpful staff. By their own admission shower rooms need attention and they are working on it."
"Very cramped. Equipment needs changing as they constantly break, especially the treadmills. A bit weird they have a MMs vending machine in the gym. Squat rack is never free. For what I use it for, the value for money is not really there, even as staff with discount. Would hope that when it expands there will be additional gym space, however it does not look like there is that much additional equipment due to be added in comparison to what is already there now."
"Way too expensive for the facilities provided. Way too small of a space so it ends up being really crowded - power racks are too close to each other as well all other equipment. Better of spending £20 a month at the gym group in portswood or pure gym near central station. Odd payment contract as well - you cannot cancel anytime without heavy handed fine print charges."
"Awful. The gym is not maintained. It's a health hazard. The treadmills are mostly out of order (unavailable) and the ones that are available are major health & safety hazards. Your knees will start hurting out of nowhere after 10 minutes due to poorly maintained treadmills. Some treadmills make a LOUD churning sound like you hear in a factory, some have inconsistent belt turn, some are not level with the ground! Big long queues for weight machines. The workout you get from your time is minimal. How is this facility charging full price but with a below par and dangerous service?!"
"I had quite a rude interaction with a member of staff when she failed to explain clearly why I was met with a surprise fee of 2 months of membership when I tried to sign up again this year. They essentially charged me for 2 months that I did not pay in 2020 because I was not physically based in Southampton - however they mentioned I wouldn't have had access to the gym because I did not pay - bare in mind this is a rolling contract on a monthly basis which in the reasonable world means if you don't pay, the service ends! Somewhere in the fine print means they are able to charge me for a service I did not make use of or had the opportunity to make use of (because you know, if you don't pay you don't have access to a service!) In general the gym is lacking and isn't big enough for its purpose. I only go here because its convent. There are other gyms but the only thing this gym has going for it is the fact it has calibrated weightlifting bars and plates (unfortunately you can't drop them though)"
