Reviews of Oasis Academy Sholing
"Bad school, teachers give out detentions for no reason, rude + disrespectful office lady that screams at everyone for nothing. staff is unhelpful, this school does not teach you anything been going here for ages and i do not recommend this school!! if your child is in this school i would recommend to move them. This school only cares about uniform and not our education. half of the kids are racist and the other half bully everyone. Only good teachers in this school are Mr Beech and Miss Wall, rest of them can not teach anyone. during a rainstorm kids get kicked out of the corridors and told to stand outside. No homeworks at all and when you get homework and you do not do it they give you 1 hour detention. In pe lessons they give you 1 hour after school just for chewing gum same goes for injurys if you do not have a note you get 1 hour after school detention. These teachers are giving kids depression and then they act suprised why they act the way they do your stressing them out!! this school should be CLOSED"
"I have been attending this school for around about a year, despite the the schools claims about “safe pupils” and “contributing to the community” all it really does is cause more problems. For example a friend of mine who I will simply refer to as J was brutally attacked by another student (who will be referred to as E), it left J with a heavy concussion and he was an absolute nervous wreck afterwards, instead of actually dealing with the situation and correctly punish E the school claimed there was nothing they could do and planned to sit both of them alone in a room to “talk it out”. As well as this a majority of the teacher are terrible, they hand out detentions like sweets on halloween and typically move students around the classroom as if their playing chess, the school doesn’t actually do anything to counter bullying as it claims. Similarly the school claims that bullying is to a minimum this is not true.Teacher will not allow students to access the schools interior hallways, even during excessive rainstorms, students are not allowed in the school. As well as every thing previously mentioned the woman who currently works in the office is incredibly rude. School toilets are mostly unisex and in terrible condition and some of the schools learning blocks don’t have boys toilets, this means only girls are allowed to go to the toilets during lesson time. Previously mentioned lessons never actually teach students anything use full. And the cherry on top of this horrible cake is the school uniform, which comes in at over £100 falls apart within a week, and a majority of students go through growth spurts and puberty causing most students to end up paying upwards of £400 on a over priced mediocre at best blazer shirt and trousers. Do not send your child here, they will end up bullied and most likely depressed. One last thing, just last week I witnessed three different fights spreading across every other year group."
"Hello. I’ve been a student at this school for around 4ish years now. Unfortunately, most of the reviews on here are written by immature individuals from lower year groups. I’m in year 11, let me give you a an honest, and mature run down of this school, so you can help decide whether you send your son/daughter to this school. Firstly, lets kick things off with the actual learning experience, teachers are often late to classes rather than students which causes mild disruptions to learning. Students cause disruptions, not just in my year group/classes. Chairs get thrown from students too. A student tried lighting another student on fire. An extreme lack of homework, and there always has been since I joined the school back in 2017. When I joined the school, it was still The Sholing Technology College, after a year they changed it to an Oasis school, unfortunately that was not the right decision for this school. Ever since becoming an academy the school has gotten worse and worse. It seems the school cares more about how they look in the public eye than the students grades, which, in my opinion, is wrong. The shear unprofessional-ism me and my parents have witnessed is truly breathtaking, not to mention the rude office lady, giving unnecessary attitude over the phone causing distress to my nan. The most UN-organized man of the century award hands down goes to Mr Chikiwa, I’ve lost count how many times he’s said he’d phone my nan back regarding important matters and he never does. He never replies to emails either, nor do many other teachers. Although some good teachers include Mrs Meadus, Mr Beech, Mr Ranger, If your child is bullied at this school, fear not! The teachers will place the bullies right next to your child! Toilets to not work across the school. There are 4 toilet facilities, all of them are trashed and not fixed and never have been. The locks don’t work and all the toilets are unisex, boys urinate all over the toilets its disgusting. Not aloud to stand in corridor during rain. Kicked outside. Behaviour system is useless. Lack of exclusions for certain pupils. School needs to be shut down. OFSTED won’t do it because they make themselves look good even though they clearly aren't! All my friends are barely scraping a grade 4"
"Needs to be shut down. Isn't a good school at all. Don't care about there students. Don't take no blame for situations they make. Was in a right state thinking the worst when my son didn't come home on time. Phoned school to see if maybe he was in detention. They tell me no he isn't. I'm worrying more. Walk to the school to see if I can find him,get to the school they say he still not there. In such a panic. Receptionist gives ME the attitude. Go to go and look more for him crying not knowing what to do. Eldest son has come out of work to help me look for him. My eldest finds him walking out of school gates. I'm fuming, all this worry. Receptionist made a situation so so so bad. What if there had been a fire and they was saying my son wasn't there. The school never communicate between each other. They never get back to you they don't deal with bullying at all they just put the bully in your child's class and sit them next to the victim. Teachers just seem to dish out detentions for the fun of it (or just if they don't get on with that child) Beginning and end of it........ Don't send your child to this place (cant call it a school) if you want them to have an education."
"If it were possible Id be rating this with zero stars whatsoever, doesn’t even deserve only one since the experience for me personally was that atrocious. Ridiculously harsh unfair staff and the students when I attended weren’t any better. Bullying and harassment never gets taken seriously then staff wonder why students are unhappy. Take your students seriously and learn how to actually run a school, THEN there should be some progress. But do i think this specific place would ever make progress? Absolutely not. Extremely hopeless. Think twice before you send a kid here. In fact, if you were to send a kid here it is most likely that you don’t have a working brain whatsoever. You can do better."
