Reviews of Hall Grove School
"Two of my kids have been at Hall Grove for a few years now and they both absolutely love it. Oldest has gotten stuck into his music and drama and my daughter loves the Pony Club. Will definitely be sending the youngest there too!"
"Working with with the staff, children and parents at Hall Grove on a charitable project over the last two years has allowed me a real insight in to the workings of the school. The children are vibrant, confident and happy. Hall Grove is like a large welcoming, nurturing family with a real purpose. The facilities and grounds are very special and I would happily go back to school if it was like Hall Grove."
"Our two children have enjoyed many years at Hall Grove School. Our eldest left two years ago but recalls his time at Hall Grove with great fondness and the staff often ask after him. Our youngest still attends the school and enjoys every day. The school facilities are being continually improved and expanded from what would be regarded as a high standard in any case. Parents do not part with money to send their children into a poorly maintained environment. External education experts are brought in at least twice a year to discuss and explore new teaching methods and parents are also invited to hear their presentations; so we know that Hall Grove most certainly does not 'rest on its laurels'. You just need to ask them about the outstanding results the Hall Grove children achieve in their entrance exams and the number of scholarships awarded. Members of staff stay at Hall Grove for many years, so clearly they are working in a happy, supportive environment. This consistency in staff brings with it a nurturing atmosphere in which children can fully realise their potential. The staff are often qualified to teach up to 'A-Level' in their subject areas and deliver first-rate lessons. You can verify the excellent teaching provided at Hall Grove by reading the outcome of Hall Grove's recent ISI Inspection Report. Music, drama, art and sport are given equal focus. Our sons are sporty and we have always been impressed by the dedication and commitment of the Sports department in providing an exceptional variety and depth of competitive sporting opportunity. We know parents with children who possess musical, dramatic and artistic talent who would say the same of their related departments. I suggest you visit the school and make your own judgement. Hall Grove is a school which does not find the need to advertise heavily in local papers and educational magazines/websites and often has a waiting list in every year group. This level of demand for places is achieved by local reputation and word of mouth and doubtless this will remain the case."
"I moved all 3 of my children here this year, and they're thriving! The academic standard is very high but what my children love the most is the opportunity for sports and a lot of it. The grounds are beautiful and not just for show, but used for sports through the year. The teachers are able, kind and passionate. And the management is very hands on and makes sure a very high standard is maintained throughout the school. Couldn't have asked for more. Wish I'd moved sooner."
"Rumours of bullying are completely unfounded. Not everyone will like this school, its treats children like adults. They have to toughen up and get out there. Yes they have to wear shorts in winter, but it builds tough kids. There is no softness here, and thats a good thing! The only thing is that the academic performance could be better, they could push them harder. This is an old fashioned prep school, where children are taught to be useful productive members of society. Taught of the virtues of service. Many will go on to board at Wellington College, and in turn into the armed forces. They are taught to be emotionally robust."
