Reviews of Buckinghamshire College Group - Wycombe Campus
"A wonderful 3 or 4G Astro pitch that Wycombe Wanderers youth use for training. Big open aspect and great parking with spectator space all the way round the pitch. Really enjoyed my trip there."
"I studied the Level 2 Certificate In Photography course and I enjoyed it. The course was always engaging and the work was fun as well as educational. The tutors were very polite and were very helpful throughout the entire year. Highly recommend this course!"
"I attended the Flackwell campus when it was under the name Amersham & Wycombe College. Not gonna lie if I could I’d have rated the college a zero. When I was here, there were quite a few tutors that were genuinely good. There was one particular tutor who was more interested in your personal life than actually helping you and had favourites. Towards the end of the course it was also impossible to get work marked to you could leave, and you had to pile on pressure on the tutors to get it marked as there were people like myself who were heading off to university. Could go on forever if I’m honest. Only good from being here was finishing my course and getting a decent grade, and also the class that I was in, we all got on well."
"this college was a bit of a mixed bag for me. there was a lot i loved about the place, but also a lot i didn't like about it. first i'll start with the positives, this place gives you independence and freedom to wonder around, you can even go to town during break times. the tutors and staff here are mostly very friendly and respectful. i also made lots of new friends who i cherish and all of those things are what i love the most about this college. and now for the negatives, this is not a place to go to if you want to learn any new skills. i studied media and art here and learnt nothing useful at all. on the art course, they don't even teach you how to draw or paint better, they just expect you to already know how to do these things. you do still get to draw and paint but that actually becomes rarer later on and for the most part, you just do pointless write up work about what you think of this artist's works and the details of their art, it was all very pointless and there was no educational value in any of that. the media course was also the same, since they don't teach you anything about how to make movies and it's also just more useless write up work. on both courses they offer photoshop, but of course, they do not teach you how to use the program and they just expect you to figure it on your own, which ironically isn't really teaching. there were also a lot of disruptive students who liked to make noise, disturb other students and misbehave, and the staff just seemed to let them do whatever they pleased. it was all very lazy and unprofessional. also the food in the cafeteria is godawful, most of it being cheap processed junk and very flat food too. you'd be better off walking to amersham town for lunch time. and back in 2016, we had this thing called late cards, where if we were late, we'd have to write down on a piece of paper why we were delayed and then give them to the teachers. what exactly is the point of that when you could just tell the staff face to face why you were late? the teachers would also always end up throwing the cards in the bin, making it even more pointless. eventually they scrapped the late card idea because they realized it was just stupid, too bad it took them a year to figure this out though. overall, i only recommend this place if you have nothing better to do and if you just want to make new friends. however if you're looking for an education, then look elsewhere because, as already mentioned, you'll learn nothing here."
"I spent 8 months going to college at Bucks College Group Flackwell Campus and in my time there I have had a few problems but ultimately it wasn’t too much of a painful experience but I most certainly will not be coming back. Advantages; - I found the tutor on the course exceptionally helpful during the whole year, he was very knowledgeable and could help to learn the syllabus by teaching certain aspects in different ways so that you can understand it Disadvantages; - During my time at BCG I did six exams. During these six exams I have had a few problems with two of them. The first exam that I tool we were booked into a room where we were supposed to have exam conditions and they booked a practical plumbing exam which caused significant interruption. Following this interruption, we were booked into an alternative room after we informed the examiner of this problem. - During my time here, at the beginning, I was stopped often by the security often even though I had my ID badge which allows access to the doors on me at the time. - Communication during the time that I studied here from the tutors and the college admit were poor. We had heavy snow during and close to one of our exams and we did not know what was happening as no one contacted us about it and told us the exam would be cancelled and moved but we had an option to move. The whole situation was very confusing for all the students involved and made the time around the exam much more stressful. A good point to take from the above issues I have had with the college is that during the end of my time studying here the college was showing signs of improvement regarding the communications. The last exam that I sat at this college they did bring in a system that both emailed and texted the students to inform them that they have been booked into the exam. From my experience I cannot recommend the college, the only reason why I stayed at the college was the tutor that held the classes. A small point to note is that the car park has a significant speedbump before you get to the student’s car park. I understand why they have this, but it is severe and on more than one occasion I have scraped the bottom of my car on it, even when I go extremely slowly over it."
