"Unfortunately the bad reviews are still true. Pet friendly and the location of the block is the only positive but management/service really lets the place down. Shoddy check in report trying to pass things off as good condition when they're not, there are scratches all over the floors that I hadn't noticed when moving in and broken bathroom tiles which I expect to have trouble with when it comes to check out because I hadn't noticed them when reviewing the report in the short timeframe you get given to check everything. Things are very slow to get fixed. Still waiting for our extractor fans to be fixed nearly 4 months after we first reported it. It's £250 if you get locked out past 5pm even though it's a fob key system and they can open the door for free if they were onsite. A couldn't care less attitude from the out of hours service team, especially during a pandemic if you do get locked out in the early evening. Concierge is lovely but the place has not lived up to expectation, I had hoped the bad reviews when we looked at this place initially no longer applied under new management but that's not the case. A shame."
"I lived there for 2.5 years from 2016-2019 in a studio and was one of the early residents. It's a nice set of flats in a very good location if you work near the town centre . However the management is AWFUL, loves to rip it's residents. The concierge is nice and helpful but have no decision making powers. I only stayed because it was close to my office and as I said the flats are actually nice. The property management have a very slow maintenance team, extremely high utility bills - I was paying £90-110 per month for a STUDIO! They love to raise the rent every 6 months making it a very sad state despite the beautiful flats the ! Hence the 2 stars."
"Good location if you use trains regularly and like to be near the centre. However it’s over priced for the size and you have many other charges. Concierges have been lovely and helpful so far. The one big thing which makes me angry regularly when I think about it, is when I came to view the apartment I was told the utility bills will be low as it’s economical. When I received the first bill this did not reflect that. I called the utility company to then be informed that Platform charge their own rate on my bill, to make money!!! And it’s NOT just a few quid. This was not told to me (in fact I was told it would be cheap) and as I can find out so far, Platform have no real reason for charging this rate every month, which seems scandalous!!! For this reason (and the apartment price for the size) I give 1 star, and will not be renewing my tenancy. I do like the apartment, however a 1 bed is not big enough for a couple."
"We stayed with Platform from March 2017 until September 2018. Some parts were alright, the apartment was a good layout and the concierge (while she lasted) was nice. It is a very convenient location. Those are about the only good things I can say. We should have realized even at the start that their communication is terrible. We were moving down from Scotland and had explained we needed to move in quickly. However there was no sense of urgency at their end even when i explained we would be technically homeless until they got their act together. It took a week (after we had already passed all the checks) to email a standard contract for us to print and sign, which they wanted in a day. It then took another week for them to process it. There is an extremely high standing charge that you are not told about, it more than doubled our bill each month. The heating was terrible, our main room only reaching about 13 degrees some cold days, while in summer it was baking. The maintenance was lack lustre, at one point we had to call emergency maintenance as the light fixture down stairs had water pouring out of it. They did not answer either numbers we had for them, and after an hour of trying (after having informed the concierge and been asked if we could ring), eventually sent them an email on their portal site. Be warned also which side of the building you live on as trackside is actually quieter since the pub side constantly has fights and loud screaming matches at 1am. Although it is also free entertainment."
"Apartments are great (simple and what I needed for the next 12 months), management is a joke. Shocking high utility bills, when we moved in it was told to us they would be around £30-40 not £100! They charge a very high standing charge! a "I don't care about you" attitude and just the worst experience of dealing with any agent / private letting place. Only person that was useful / helpful was Matthew at customer service. He actually did his job to try and help us. Maintenance personal will enter your apartment even when told not too (walked in on when in the shower!!) need a lightbulb fixed? Can wait 3 months.. Make sure you take pictures when you check out to prove apartment is sorted or they will try and charge you more. So much potential, it's a shame, please hire a competent management and team - except for Matthew he is the only good thing of this place."
