Reviews of Sutherland Centre
"I can report positive changes and a care plan presented to me in a timely fashion by the Secretaries. I had a video appointment with a lovely Doctor who was interested in me and not about the meds I take. I even got my next appointment through the post this morning. Thanks to everybody in getting the information to the GP double quick."
"If you have Depression and Mental Health issues, please avoid this. The Doctors have no idea what they are doing and nor are they interested, the Doctor messed around with my Medication and put my life in Danger by prescribing a Antidepressant knowing full well it was not to be taken with Epilepsy as I have Epilepsy and take Epilepsy Medications. Since the change in my Medications, my Mental Health has Detoriated rapidly and wanting to kill myself, I have stopped Eating and have no strength to carry on anymore. Pleaded for help but apparently they have no Doctors. I don't think I will be alive for much longer but these Authorities have failed me and I strongly advise everyone to avoid this place unless you want to die because they are excellent in pushing Vulnerable Adults battling Severe Depression and Anxiety to kill themselves. "Shocking and very unhelpful mental health service. My review is due to being discharged from the service without any notice, leaving me to be left with no medication for nearly two weeks currently. I was withdrawn from the service due to missing telephone appointments (which yes is wrong on my behalf) but could not be helped as they always rescheduled my appointments, being 3 times once, leaving me to eventually forget what date it was, and that’s meant to be fully my fault? And when mentioning this to the team, and the fact they’ve made this decision without sending me a letter or calling me first and leaving me with no medication, all I heard was “yes I understand” and “I’m sorry” but that’s meant to justify purposely leaving a young adult with no medication to treat their poor mental health whose been at your service for over 2 years. Honestly, I think it’s disgusting and no wonder it’s rated 1 star on google. Which tells me other people have experienced the same anger and frustration as me."
"I was told that the waiting list for therapy is about a year and a half. She said I could be transferred back to primary mental health care (wellbeing) which would have shorter waiting times, but that my case might be too severe and I could just be transferred straight back to secondary. When I said I couldn't wait that long she simply told me "that's just how the system works". In what world am I in a place to wait a YEAR AND A HALF for treatment if i'm "too severe" to be seen by the wellbeing team. I also have rung up 4 times asking them to pass on a message to my psychiatrist over the course of two months, and the message still hasn't been passed on. Apart from my psychiatrist, nobody here listens to me or follows up with what they say they're going to do"
"I was receiving care from Healthy Minds, which I waited over a year for. Great and friendly people, they suspected something was going on with me, more along the sinister lines. My care with them came to a halt as they believed they couldn't provide me with the higher care I needed. So I got referred to this centre, for secondary care. I had to wait a long time, to just receive an assessment. They completely dismissed everything I said, and said they wont do anything for me until I've tried every type of medication, because someone with a condition would have done that first before going to them. And the fact I wouldn't be working if I had a serious illness despite that being something I HAVE to do to NOT be homeless. It is not something I want to do. It has been far from easy and has only made me worse. So after explaining my situation, again. Very hard to talk about situations, they dismissed my case after this and told me to talk to my GP about medication. That's all the support I am getting. I practically begged them for help, I have been in need for a long time coming. And thought I would finally get the support I needed. My family are thankful everyday that I am here."
