Reviews of Great Western Hospital
"Newer A&E waiting room design is more comfortable and comforting, can say I'd be pleased if this design was stretched across into other areas (especially waiting rooms) of GWH. Waiting hours are still long went twice in one month and waited over 2 hours each time but I can see that many nurses, assistants and doctors are indeed working as swift and caringly as possible. Kudos to those who care it really made the difference in my visits."
"Lovely nurse in the Blood test department. She was great, uplifting, happy & kind. Didn’t get her name unfortunately but she was brilliant & thank you for my animal plaster haha. Parking was a bit of a mess today. All a little shoddy but people were there to help."
"I have had to attend the GWH a number of times over the last month due to a procedure and aftercare(Dressing changes). The aftercare should really have been carried out by my own GP practice, but could only obtain 3 appointments during this time. I found the Hospital to be excellent. Everytime i turned up, i was booked in and seen within the hour(most times) even though i could see how busy they all are."
"The staff in the Daisy ward are fantastic! They made my stay at the hospital comfortable and you can really tell they care for their patients. They are hard working and go above and beyond for everyone. I cannot thank them enough!"
"This has been my first experience of A&E for a very long fortunately. In hindsight we were in and out within under two hours, but it’s not all about waiting times. I felt like I was in some back alley sci-fi medical centre. The cleanliness of the place felt horrible, from the old and dirty chairs awkwardly arranged for everyone to stair at each other, to the urine covered toilets. The thick plastic splash screen covering the help desk along with the police standing around with I presume inebriated person made me feel like a criminal for being there. The food dispensers are a rip-off and filled with junk. The parking ticket machine doesn’t accept contactless although it suggests it does, and when the ticket finally flew out the wind nearly blew it away. The patient I was with received the attention required; the staff were not rude but by no means were they compassionate or caring with their words. Two of us were caring for a patient and being insisted that one of us had to leave due space and covid was uncaring, there was still space and we all had masks on, this person needed both of us at the time and trying to explain that felt pointless and impossible. I truly feel for the NHS of today with all I hear in the media, but we all have a job to do and caring should never stop."
