"Lovely little store, usually has most of what you want. The cafe is great for a quick coffee and a light bite"
"I do not agree with their ratings, is a shame... Called today the branch to get some help with C&C , was my mistake and the staff was really polite she's called Sue from welcome desk and sort out my issue straight away. I didn't have to wait for ages on the phone, very professional, highly customer service, friendly, polite , well done Waitrose Thatcham you are doing an amazing job. Highly recommend Waitrose Thatcham."
"We are so lucky to have a Waitrose store in Thatcham ! The staff are so helpful and kind and the products are of excellent quality. The shop is always nice and clean , and the shelves are well stocked."
"I pop in every so often and the security guards always profile me and make sure to follow me around the whole shop, probably being tattooed and dressing casual. They always make sure to let me know I am not welcome."
"Sick and tired of being stereotyped and refused service. I often pop into this shop after work with my wife generally for a few bits, never a full weekly shop. I am 33 years old (my wife 34) and we are both tattooed, have the ability to drive and most certainly look our age. I also carry valid age verification with me on every visit. EVERY SINGLE time we visit this particular Waitrose we are followed around the shop by the security guard. I understand he needs to do his job so I never complain however today he was less discreet than usual which I did not appreciate. He has never stopped to check my bags (because I’m not a thief) but my issue is that he doesn’t follow other customers around. He also makes a special effort to be seen in the alcohol section which comes to my next problem with this store. Today I tried to purchase 1 singular can of beer along side my usual shopping. I arrived at the checkout with my wife where the cashier totalled up my shopping. I packed my bag and was ready to pay… however the cashier kept back my singular can of beer and asked for ID from both myself and my wife. I showed my valid ID and she still refused to sell me the single can of beer due to the fact that my 34 year old wife did not have ID on her. Despite my wife standing next to me, I was still the sole adult purchasing my single can of beer along side some general groceries. I understand that this cashier was only ‘doing her job’ so I did not raise an issue as this would have only caused more problems. My question for Waitrose is - if I were a mother with her child, A. Would your security guard intensively follow me around the store? And B. Would you refuse to sell me the single can of beer because my child is under 18 years of age? Despite providing a valid UK driving licence for myself, the adult paying. This review is something that has been boiling for a long while now and after todays service, I will not be re-entering this store without a sincere apology."
