Reviews of The Castle & Falcon
"Nanny McPhee on the tv, pool table and cheap drinks, what more could a man want!"
"Got to be the most friendly pub in Derby. Really friendly people and everyone is made welcome"
"They ask for I.D for a non alcoholic drink and say you have to leave when your probably older then the short female bar attendant who wears glasses and I am a fully grown man with a beard who looks older haha"
"I had many fond memories of this pub, from the 1980's however, since the last renovation took place (whenever that was), we, & other customers have complained that, the 'Brewery', involved now in the place, are quick to take the profits but, do absolutely nothing 2 re-renovate the place, which it needs urgently. Staff are very hard workers, friendly, &, polite (as are most of the customers). There's no working ventilation, the mens toilets stink most of the time, floor is always covered in urine so, is a serious accident, waiting to happen, &, you have to wipe your feet, coming out of their, seriously (i am not joking), it stinks around the toilet, main entrance area, due to many people having to do that. The cellar leaks, & the staff struggle to maintain the ongoing prob's their but, still, 'The Staff Plod On' with this dive of a #Derby City Centre Pub' (shame on you, whoever the grabbing gits of a brewery are)!!! 'BRING BACK OUR 80's STYLE DECOR', (they once had), it was lovely then!!! A karaoke can be found their, Fridays, &, Saturdays, 4pm, til 11pm, Sundays, 3pm til 11pm, &, Mondays, 2pm, til 11pm (for the 'Monday Club', which is more for the mature generation of people)!!! It has a gravelled beer garden, that is open in the spring / summer only. Despite the downside of critical things, it was a bustling pub, most of the time, &, that is largely down to the cheap prices. It is situated, more or less opposite, 'Derby Bus Station' (so not far to stagger for your bus)!!! The pub has regular changes of managers running it, as they are treated appallingly by the brewery, i am very reliably informed by some of them. THE PUB IS ALLEGEDLY BEING CLOSED DOWN IN 2025, DUE TO 'THE EAGLE CENTRE MARKET / DERBION CENTRE RENOVATIONS", that are due to take place, &, it's possible that, rather than renovate this once iconic pub, back to it's former glory, it is being said that it is up for demolition."
