Reviews of The Exchange
"The staff were friendly and fairly attentive. We ordered soup of the day (butternut squash) and a tuna melt panini. Our hot drinks arrived while we were waiting and our waitress also informed us that our food was on its way. The food was really good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was a little subdued, but that meant we could have a nice conversation, without having to raise our voices. This would have probably been a 5 star review, but when we came to pay, I offered to pay a tip, but the waitress explained that there was already a service charge added, which I’m not a fan of. The manger explained that the company that had recently taken them over insisted on this…. Oh well. The Exchange is definitely worth a visit, if you’re visiting Romsey."
"My husband and I had our 30th birthday party here and we had a great time. Communication in the run up to the party was great and Naomi was just a text away. Max was so helpful on the night and made the best cocktails. The staff constantly checked in throughout the night to check we were happy - super attentive. Great night celebrating perfect venue."
"The food was such a disappointment. The avocado on toast was two pieces of white bread with a few slices of beetroot from a jar making the bread soggy, sliced hard avocado and a few tomatoes plonked on top. There wasn't any salt or pepper on the table and the service charge was a seemingly compulsory addition to the bill. I gave it two stars only for the venue and decor as it is a lovely place with a lot of potential."
"Staff were very friendly and efficient. Location is perfect, right in the heart of Romsey and ambience is OK - a bit soulless but not unpleasant. It is next door to a very popular and busy cafe with long queues for a table, which is why we ended up in the Exchange. I don't think we'll be going there again as it is quite pricey for some items : a croissant with butter and jam cost £3.50 and was very small, although it was very tasty; pain au chocolat was £3.00; two slices of toast with a pot of jam also £3.00. Coffee is very good and only £2.50 for a big mug. The menu looks good but we only tried the breakfast items."
