Reviews of The Hobbit Pub
"Really nice pub, very cheap drinks and good size for your money. Good vibes, however slightly disappointed it has nothing to do with the lord of the rings anymore. A ton of dungeons and dragons related drinks instead now. If you're not a student you might feel a bit out of place as I did! Being older has its downsides!"
"We went to the Apocalypse summer bash. The pub itself was great and dull of character, also who doesn't love a t shirt challenge."
"Just an all round excellent pub, full of character history and themed like the Hobbit. What's not to like? Regular live music downstairs with some of the friendliest promoters you could hope to work with. There's an insane outside space which also occasionally has live music, but also all sorts of other events. Drinks are reasonably priced and there's an insane range of pint sized cocktails. You can order food and the staff are all super friendly. The only thing that lets this place down is a lack of parking, it's straight off the corner of the main road and if you are a band it can be difficult to load in and out. That's what you get with a city pub though. Also not sure what access arrangements are like? Steep narrow set of stairs down to the garden music area. Very well may be better access if you are disabled, but it wasn't obvious. Highly recommended venue and pub, particularly if you are a student and you like live music."
"Came down from London to visit this pub. Seems more like a meeting place for students rather than an actual nightlife venue. Cliquey atmosphere, whole place lacking in energy, frankly quite dry and a little dull overall. No music playing except for a student garage band in a small gig room. Disappointing lack of Tolkien decor (or any kind of fantasy fiction decor at all whatsoever) inside. The cocktails, which I had particularly been looking forward to, were very sugary and lacking any sort of bite - you would likely get diabetes from all the sugar before getting a buzz on the cocktails. I went with a friend who is a local and they told me the establishment has changed a lot over the years, they even felt it necessary to apologise to me afterwards. Luckily we found another excellent venue nearby so the night was not a complete disaster. Would not recommend overall sadly."
"Brilliant place! Plenty of space for bands and people watching. Lost a star mainly due to the fact one of the staff refused to let us put a small table and chair in the event room for my disabled friend who can't stan for long therefor missing out on watching the bands. Other then that thank you for hosting our husbands band, I'm sure we will be back. (and will bring our own collapsible table & chair) #Drallion"
