Reviews of The Beetroot Tree
"Tried to call to speak directly. I was sooo disappointed. The quality of the cooking was so poor. Burned sausage, bacon you could snap, hard boiled poached egg, mushrooms were soaked through in water. Just no pride in presentation or love in the cooking. Home made baked beans were grim. Ugh!! Looked a mess too. I had grilled cheese on toast. The cheese was barely grilled and cold under the top skin which had just stared to melt. Miserable front of house, dirty floors, knife on floor my whole time I was there. Younger staff - some were not on the ball. I looked around - it wasn’t just us who got a raw deal. Girl next to me with two hard boiled eggs on toast. She didn’t ask for them like that and the other lady’s scrambled eggs.. looked like wet, watery slops. Used to be an amazing place for a posh cafe style munch. I can’t take my friend there again. Worst breakfast ever eaten were the comments."
"This was our first time at the marina & therefore at The Beetroot Tree. Everywhere was very busy but we managed to get a table for five of us. The drinks arrived very quickly & the food followed promptly. Everything was well presented & very tasty. I had the halloumi stack which came with roast aubergine, courgette & asparagus & was delicious. We will be back"
"Had lovely coffee & cake here. The cakes ( rocky road & cornflake cake) were very large, which is good! The staff were really friendly too. The toilet was accessible which is great for those with mobility problems but it could do with a good clean & a lick of paint."
"It was busy which we assumed was a good sign , but no! Quiche was scrambled egg with burnt asparagus and a bland salad and the staff member at the till was so rude. The table we sat at wasn’t cleared from the previous people either! We drank our drinks and left."
"My Mum was sold a couple of Scones out of a clear container the other day, she asked what scones they were and was told they were Cherry. Got home to find it had loads of almonds in. Absolutely terrible, allergens like this should be clearly labelled by law. Unbelievable this could happen, should be ashamed. You claim that you cannot guarantee any of your foods are nut free but I think labelling the food with allergens that they clearly contain would be a start! It’s not enough for the safety net being that the staff should inform customers, and on this case they ‘forgot’, that’s absurd and could’ve resulted in at least one fatality. I really can’t believe these weren’t labelled, it’s a disgrace and massively irresponsible and needs looking into."
