"We had a wonderful time here, the lunch is delicious, every dish presented so nice and yummy. The staff are friendly and attentive. We come on weekday so not crowded. The river scene outside the boathouse is very nice , believe it will look gorgeous in summertime where you can rent a boat for a ride before or after meal."
"If you are scrolling the reviews and thinking if its worth going - please do it! Don’t even scroll further! You will receive: Phenomenal service - very friendly, kind admin and personnel! They took care of everything, our table that we booked 15min before arrival, asking about my daughter’s glass if that’s okay for her apple juice, making sure we like the food and enjoying our time. Simple but very well done food. My starter with pork just changed my life! Our dessert with almond and creme fraiche was unbelievably delicious! For starters as complimentary from the restaurant they brought bread with salted butter which was very fresh and delicious! Overall, we will definitely come back in summer to seat outside and enjoy this delicious cuisine!"
"We had our wedding reception here and it was fantastic. A lovely setting, delicious food, friendly staff and punting during the drinks reception! I'm so happy we chose the Cherwell Boathouse and can't wait to visit again. Photos by Neil Hanson"
"Very good dining experiences on three occasions, though short of excellence. The seafood dishes were all delicious, though my steak could have had a bit more care taken in its preparation. As the picture shows, it is fairly uninspiring and unevenly seared. The desserts are simple but tasty. The location is lovely in the summer. My only other quibble is the state of the toilets - often smelly and dirty. That being said, this place clearly knows their food, and there is great potential to improve it even more!"
"I was treated by my lovely girls to Mother’s Day Sunday lunch, I had the smoked eel to start, which was to die for, followed by steamed mullet, another dish of total deliciousness. I don’t normally have a dessert, but the pistachio cake with rhubarb swayed me and I was not disappointed, Devine!! We dined in the conservatory, and although an outside space with sides, it was adequately heated, and we were able to enjoy the view of the river, entertained by the punt boats. I would thoroughly recommend, the food was excellent, service very good with knowledgeable staff and we all had a very nice day"
