"Therapy is something that can change a patient's life either for good or bad. I wish that the so called professionals could understand the impact on someone's life when poor service is given. I was treated a few years ago here, I found that the therapist that treated me did not seem to give the needed attention for situations of real abuse happening in my life when I was still a minor. I was often frustrated and feeling unheard after sessions. Other aspect of how unprofessional this situation was is because my mother was treated here as well and we were treated with the same therapist, which now that I am older I realize how unethical that actually is. On sessions the therapist would excuse my mother's behaviour based on the problems she had heard from sessions with my mother, how unprofessional can that be? After been disappointed in your clinic it took me years to have the courage of trying to find therapy again. I don't think is responsible to treat teenagers if you don't have the expertise needed as the wounds that bad service can cause in a young person are tremendous. After 5 years I decided to find therapy again and I then realised how unfortunate it is for someone that needs help to give up on it for been scared of even further disappointment. It took me 5 years to want to try again. Therapy should be taken seriously, we not just money cows we are people that seek help, we don't come to therapy to fill it up your pockets."
"Highly competent and compassionate support at a reasonable cost."
"Grateful for the service, FaceTime option which I needed in my darker times. Geraldine is skilled and compassionate as my counsellor. Having sliding fee scale helped me continue care. Thank you!"
"I've been visiting My Mind on and off for four years and have always found the staff to be exceptionally kind, professional and helpful. I'm very grateful to them for providing an affordable, reliable counselling service."
"Discriminatory and shocking. I chose this organisation because it is local and the door was opened for me when I rang the bell. I found my way to a waiting area, expecting whoever had buzzed me in to come to me. Nothing happened for twenty minutes and then this young Asian guy walked past me - without acknowledging me. I addressed him on his return journey and found out he was the one who had buzzed me in. I said I was here to make an appointment and he said I shouldn't have come without an appointment. I pointed out to him the address was on their website and there was no instruction relating to what he just said. When I told him I was inflicted with PTSD and anxiety as a result of working with some women and really needed a male counsellor, he got very offensive and insisted that I'd have to phone and that it was the only way. Exasperated, I asked him for the phone number and I'd phone him then and there while I was standing in front of him. The long and the short of it is I stated a perfectly legtimate reason for preferring a male counsellor and this organisation refused me because it offended their narrative."
