Reviews of Safari Childcare Rathmines
"Genuinely the nicest people you could wish to look after your kids. I've two girls with them and they always do their best to look after them. Great communication and we are blessed to send our girls there."
"We simply love Safari and so does our son that goes there. All the activities, working on development and personal attention are just amazing. As parents we miss our son during the day but always receive lots of lovely pictures. Also the communication with a daily overview of activities, food and nappies is great."
"My wife and I were extremely disappointed with the service in this creche. Some members of the staff are excellent, very loving with the children and patient. However, others simply do not know how to communicate with the parents and management is unwilling to go the extra mile to help. Our child was with this creche since he was 7 months old. He is now 3.5 years old and was just expelled. A lot can be said about the time in the interim. The creche started showing concerns with the fact that our son was biting and scratching about a year ago, which is absolutely fair. What they can't do is starting to throw words like "autism" at us, without being the least bit qualified to diagnose those issues. We then took him to a private psychologist who basically laughed off the creche's "assessment" and the same was the conclusion from the HSE's public assessment when he was 3 years old. When our son changed to an older class in creche we stopped hearing complaints about abnormal behaviour for about 4 or 5 months. That is until in the space of of 1 week and a half we were informed that he was misbehaving and at the end of that week we were told there had been formal complaints from other parents about possible scratches to their children. As a result of those complaints the creche decided to expel our son. What is most shocking was that this decision was made without us being given access to any of those formal complaints or even just being informed of what exactly happened (other than some vague references to some scratching). We asked for those documents over and over again and were never given them. Equally poor was that we received no kind of formal notification of the creche's decision, with information of when he would have to leave, etc. Given the gravity of the decision it would have been the least we expected, but rather we only received a phone call from the creche manager informing us (I did go in to meet with her but only because I took that initiative). We also asked the creche to have someone from the AIM program come in and individually assess him during his day in creche. This is not something the creche is under an obligation to do but it is something that it would have to be them applying for, we could not do it ourselves. This was never done and our son was never individually assessed by AIM. The director of the creche claimed that he had been but the reality is that we were only asked to provide details for that purpose the week that he was expelled and it never came to happen. It is very serious that the director of the creche does not have his facts right and that the creche did not bother to try helping by bringing someone from AIM in for our son. They sat on it for a whole year and only thought to do so the moment things escalated. It shows they were obviously not concerned about any behaviour for a long period of time but then when formal complaints (that we never saw!) came in the immediate decision was to expel. A sound business decision but very poor service to us as parents and no help at all to our son! In a very nasty phone call (admittedly from both sides) the director of the creche said that if we "blackened the name" of the creche he would contact a Solicitor. Unfortunately for him, we all have free speech and the creche is subject to scrutiny by its customers and them expressing their opinions. This is mine, the creche is free to express theirs."
