Reviews of Holiday Inn Northampton, an IHG Hotel
"Never been here but walk past it often when passing through the washlands, hotel seems very popular with coaches full of people arriving quite regularly, observation of a male taking a poo at the back of the hotel in the 'garden' in broad daylight (he didn't even pop it into a bag or use paper) this tells me enough to never want to stay here. Although with the security force and road block at the entrance it's probably a safe hotel to stay at."
"Service during COVID was absolutely dire for a hotel - ended up with a lot of incorrect changes to my room and took weeks to fix."
"We booked 1 night B&B for 7th August and wish we hadn’t! From the time we arrived we had problems. The room we were given had issues. The TV did not work (I wanted to see the Olympics) so we tried to phone reception to report it only to find that the phone wasn’t plugged in, we tried to plug it in to find the socket was faulty! My wife went down to report it to Reception and the Manager said he would be up shortly, but on my wife’s return the 2nd key card she took would not work! The Duty Manager did come up, tried to fix the TV and the phone to no avail, finally had to give us another room. So, the start was not very good. We heard other people in reception, they were having difficulty getting back into their rooms too! The Snack Machine on floor 1’s landing by the lifts was woefully under stocked, we only wanted a bottle of water as there is non left in the room for guests, but there wasn’t any. The breakfast the next morning was a total waste of time! There was only one member of staff in the breakfast room which was way too small for the size of the hotel, and she was worked off her feet! The food that I selected (bacon, sausage and tomato) was very poor, most of it barely warm. There were only 2 clean size plates available for our breakfast, neither were big enough for a breakfast. The hot drinks were available in flasks with push down lids. I did not a have problem with this but why let children get their own when they could hardly reach the flasks never-mind push down the lids, very dangerous with hot liquid! I had to wait nearly 5 minutes to have my turn, in the end I asked a father to step in! The toaster; we had to start eating our breakfast and go back for the toast as the toaster was so slow, it took 3 goes to brown the bread. I mentioned already the breakfast was luke warm to start with so we couldn’t wait. When we first got the breakfast room it was very busy, there was a table of 8 people and table of 5 people who had all finished their meals but were watching the Olympics on TV while others were waiting for tables! Not correct and not ‘managed’ adequately, we guess that’s because they were understaffed. So, we got all of this for £96.80!! I will not stay at Holiday Inn again! I will not accept the excuse of Covid because we have stayed and eaten at other places and not had any of the problems we had here, if you can’t provide the standard expected for nearly £100 a night you should get more staff (perhaps agency) or drop the price, entirely unsatisfactory experience!"
"Many positives, especially Russell on reception who went out of his way numerous times to help us. Also to Michael the night porter who was very helpful. The disabled lift was not working and this should have been looked into quickly but wasn't. Although, I was able to access the bar and restaurant via the staff kitchen entrance luckily thanks to Russell and Co. Had to ask staff 3 times for a remote for the air-con. Russell was the one who resolved this, thankfully. I assume the other 2 staff forget. Hotel needs more disabled car spaces, 2 is not enough. Hotel located in a very nice quiet area of country. Breakfast was superb and all staff very helpful and friendly, although forgot one or two things. I'd stay again, which is a good sign!"
"Very clean and tidy hotel, staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are well set out with plenty of space. Only issue I found in the 3weeks I was there was leaking shower tray. Which was sorted out fuss free. Located next to local canal so nice outdoor space yo walk into town. Recommended"
