Reviews of Rushden Historical Transport Society & Goods Shed
"A well preserved railway station with a small part of line in operation. Great ale and other festivals..... I walk past daily and further up their premises is sadly like a dumping ground..... That aside were lucky to have this, place in the town"
"The railway may be small, but it more than makes up for it in charm and fun. The running Loco is a 142 multiple unit, an easy going little deisel, which is driven well along the rails by a lovely gent. The staff be they platform or railside are all lovely and were super friendly to my "Trainee Train Driver" 4 year old son, even allowed him to come see the drivers cab, where the Driver was really patient with my son's questions. The buffet car staff were amazing, rustled up a lovely ham sandwich each for me and Ethan and had a good natter with the lady about post-war living sharing stories of shared roots. There is a carriage a little further down with a wall full of beautiful self-curated collections of Locos and rolling stock and coaches, a 0 gauge railway diorama run by a lovely gent and a young gentleman, who also has his collection of not just trains but Star Wars merch too (The geek in me was awed)! Further into the carriage was a small but no less fascinating collection of pieces used on the rail itself from signals to platform staff uniforms. The goods Shed had a model fair on, and my son drank in all in and raced the models round their set ups (I am sorry..), of which I am super thankful of everyone being so patient of him. Its a truly charming little railway, I hope they extend it in the future, and it keeps running for our future generations to enjoy. We will be visiting again."
"Came for the sausage cider festival event. Members who run this museum are quite friendly and approachable. We had a good time drinking, eating and looking over old trains and the station. Rare privilege. Look forward to their next event."
"Great place. Good beer, friendly staff ... cheap too. Well worth a visit !"
