"I came across two sides to the Sandgate Park - the wild and untamed (my personal favourite) and the more sedate and tranquil for a leisurely walk. We had packed sandwiches and a flask of coffee, and sat on fallen tree trunks to enjoy!"
"We love it here! So beautiful and peaceful, with an amazing variety of fungi to spot as you wander round. The little bridges are fantastic, too. I met a lady yesterday whose father built one of the bigger stone bridges in 1954, when the land was still part of their property. It was lovely to put a face to that bit of history. We bring our daughters here to share our love of the woods with them, and we always have a great time."
"Lovely walk. You can either walk through a large meadow at the far side of which there are picnic benches, or if you go through the woods to the left, there are lots of streams, which quirky bridges, passages of pink and purple rhododendrons and two large ponds. Lots of pathways to follow and a very beautiful and peaceful area."
"Beautiful place for a walk, lots of trees and trails to follow. Paths are pretty firm, but it could be easy to get lost. Lovely little bridge with an excellent reflection for a photo. Definitely a hidden gem and worth a visit."
