Reviews of UEA Accommodation Office
"Would not recommend. THIS DEPARTMENT IS THE REASON WHY I'M CONSIDERING LEAVING THE UNIVERSITY! Staff are unwilling to help and I've had far too many negative experiences to list. The paper students sign isn't the Terms and Conditions of Licence (which the department assume students have read, have they hell?) but students don't follow it anyway"
"The grounds of the campus are lovely but the accommodation is overpriced, the rooms are incredibly small, lack modern features and are poorly equipped and maintained. Unfortunately the office doesn't really know how to deal with any real issues either and their handling of the pandemic was a disgrace to the university. A real shame that such a great university has such a poor system in place for their accommodation."
"The previous poor reviews say it all. This is poor quality accomodation and even poorer customer care from the staff, and yes we are customers. We pay exorbitant prices and we should get our money's worth. The uni clearly don't care how poor the accomodation/service is, there are consistently poor reviews online from at least 2016."
"Exceptionally rude and unhelpful group of men in the accommodation office who just seem to need jobs and aren't motivated at all by student welfare. The room I was allocated was dark and dingy with a tiny partially blacked out/opaque window, which made matters worse. My flatmates on the same side of the building had the same dark, dingy experience. The shared areas of the flat and the entrance to the building and hallways were generally filthy. Other students dropped rubbish in the hallways and it would stay there for a week or more. The cleaning lady rarely seemed to put in an appearance by the state of the kitchen and our rooms and bathrooms were not cleaned even once all term nor were we given the promised cleaning materials to clean them ourselves. It definitely isn't worth the money and if you are in any way prone to low mood you definitely do not want to stay in one of these rooms/residences."
"I can't even begin to describe my experience. The office hung up on us when they got annoyed with our questions. They blame everything on Coronavirus and don't care about the fact they've failed to provide a guaranteed room space. They've allocated rooms to students in clearing before giving rooms to students who met the entry criteria. Now we are being forced to accept a room that has two bathrooms between 12 students and told there isn't enough time to appeal. The supervisor spoke over us and patronised us."
