"Those 3 stars are JUST for the poor, overworked, overwhelmed, exhausted, frustrated, unappreciated, nursing staff, orderlies & Hospital staff in general who are pushed to their limits on a daily basis and left to fend for themselves against the outbursts, expletive laden tirades and emotional abuse from an equally fed up public (Can you blame them for being occasionally abrupt and curt?). Forced to work with mediocre, outdated equipment, a shortage of staff and bare essentials like hospital beds and basic medication, and having to endure the ire and outrage of justifiably impatient, infuriated patients waiting months on end for critical procedures, only to be left out in corridors lying on gurneys for care that either comes too late, or not at all. The same ire and outrage that should be reserved instead for the incompetent, apathetic, money hungry, avarice, highfalutin, suit & tie elitists "in charge" who have allowed this hospital to fall into utter disrepair (the place is perpetually under construction and looks like a freaking war zone the majority of the time), constantly budget cut in order to continually supplement their own private lives of splendour, and have the audacity to charge people for parking in a carpark that is at full capacity more often than not, to the point that vehicles are literally parked up on curbs and sidewalks; undoubtedly abandoned by people desperately rushing to extremely important appointments they've been waiting on for the last 32 weeks. The fact that these same elitists use the nursing staff as human shields against the unrelenting wave of wrath and rage in the form of patient outcry (essentially throwing employees to the wolves), instead of taking ownership of how they've grossly failed the community at large, is the epitome of cowardice. The quality of "care" in this hospital is more becoming of a third world country cesspit than an HSE supported, government funded healthcare centre for public treatment. Again, the subpar, lacklustre care can hardly be blamed entirely on underpaid staff on the brink of nervous breakdowns who are not only sleep deprived but at their wits end from a combination of serving as full-time PR reps for useles Hospital bigwigs, screening an endless stream of calls from ill patients seeking reassurance, fending off assaults by drunk and disorderly bottom scrapers, performing daily maintenance duties, and most importantly, providing care. "Where did that supposed €3.55 million budget for renovations and improvements go?" is my question. Cause it sure as heck didn't go towards the waiting room in the Day Ward (please see attached). I give it 3 more years until staff are reduced to giving patients a bit to chew on as they amputate gangrenous limbs without sedation in the hallway and the place looks like a gruesome scene you'd see during the Civil War inside of a medical tent out on the field. I've already given my wife strict instructions that in future, if I happen to find myself in a life threatening situation (i.e. heart attack, burst appendix, gunshot wound) NOT to bring me to Naas Hospital. I'd sooner have her watch a YouTube tutorial video on how to tend to my ailment at home."
"Can't fault the staff but waiting 8 hours to get a bloodtest done is a bit ridiculous. Also, how can you not provide the option to pay for parking with card? It's 2023, not everyone carries coins on them."
"Best food in any hospital around. Like every hospital in Ireland by design of our government The A&E is a terrible and understaffed. But once you get in your looked after great."
"A&E service is absolutely shocking. It is slow, the staff are so unprofessional and rude. Over 9 hours of waiting, not one staff member came in to check on anyone. My confidence in the hospital is completely gone."
"Terrible hospital, what's the point of getting an appointment to be seen if they are going to see you whenever they want. Waited for ages until I decided to leave. Staff couldn't care less about patients, they act like they are making you a favour and get annoyed when you ask when you'll be seen. Avoid this hospital!"
