Reviews of Anglesey Abbey, Gardens and Lode Mill
"Just loved visiting this place. The 'Abbey' was amazing, with great pictures and tapestries inside, a fascinating library and lots of historic bathrooms, if you like something more then bedrooms! Sadly the mill was closed, but the walks and gardens made up in part for this. There was a plant shop, large second hand book shop, traditional National Trust shop, cafe and lots of places to sit. Would definitely visit again."
"A great place to visit, you could easily make it last a day and still not see everything. £15.00 a person isn't cheap but there is 100+ acres to look round and a historical mill as well as the abbey itself. A lovely garden and parkland which is easy to get round for anyone. The parkland has a large variety of trees which would even keep Tarzan happy. The restaurant/ tearoom is well priced and top notch. Definitely visit."
"Gorgeous! The fall colors were beautiful! The walks through the woods were serene and full of autumn colors. There were a lot of people when we pulled in but the forest walk was fast from it. However the house was decently packed and didn't allow for much casual strolling."
"Visited many times since I am National trust member and one of my perennial favourite. All season brings something to see in this beautiful place. True that I never visited the house itself, because I love roaming around the estate and when I ended at the house it was usually already closed. Huge estate with nice taste of landscaping, and because of its size, hundreds and thousand of people can avoid each other and have a nice walk, picnic or just lay down and having sunbathe. Summertime there are more mobile facilities for a refreshment, toilets are behind the house and at the visitor centre. What I'm sorry about is the lack of the benches. There's a few of them, but far from each other and the estate is big enough to get tired in a certain age. They have illuminated light shows in winter time, too. Car park is huge and free, easy to access from A14."
"A lovely place to spend a day. The house is small but beautiful with staff very knowledgeable. The grounds are a delight with fantastic statues appearing at every turn. I bought a book from the excellent second hand bookshop and sat on one of the deckchairs on the lawns enjoying the sunshine. Very relaxing."
