Reviews of Penyrheol Primary School
"This school taught me nothing. The only thing this school taught me was to be unhappy unless I am forced to do something I cannot. The school was extremely money-hungry, they had lots of trips that wre 'educational' for their school shows that took time out of learning. They did not have physical education occasionally, it was rare. When we did have physical education they did not even have a P.E. Kit. They scolded the person who didn't have any gym or appropriate clothing for the lesson. They used to have a good gym teacher until one day he disappeared. (RIP Mr. Davies) They barley did Welsh and they gave up on teaching the year 6 class algebra when not many people got it after one lesson. Bullying, they could not even deal with. If you are bullied, there's a high chance you and the bully were sent to 'time-out' even if it was or wasn't your fault. I was bullied a lot, almost my entire class and a 45% of the other class's hating & making fun of me too. This school, they spent less money on education and decided to spend it on laptops for almost everyone in year 6; do you know what they are going to teach the kids in year 6 with a laptop? How to use Microsoft Word. They made them write stories where they did not even try to correct their grammar or punctuation. They did not really teach me or us, I can't remember that much math or English in year 5. I just remember being scolded at because I cannot touch paper. The teachers probably earn more than the comprehensive but at least the comprehensive gives a quality education. I bet other primary schools were a lot more educational than this school. In reception it was basically a daycare. The parents dropped off their kids to play. (Nursery is understandable, but reception? At least try to teach them than making them watch cartoons at the start then before lunch just making them play) They had nice dinners, always good, always healthy. The dinner ladies were nice too, especially Sarah. When the class was given an assignment to prepare their 'talk' or presentation about Adolf Hitler / World War II, everyone was told to go up one-by-one to talk about the subject. I felt confident enough to head up there and read off a sheet of paper that had a good amount research on it. Obviously I expected the presentation to be awkward, but not disastrous for me. Barley through a paragraph when I started talking and then a few annoyance started giggling at me. Then when I tried to carry-on they go to me and I ended up bursting into tears. You would expect the teachers to ask me if I am alright, but not a shocker. They did not even attempt to ask me a question. Not once. This school really needs to stop funding their lives and start funding these children's lives. A few teachers were nice but most of them were in it for the money. I admit, not being able to touch paper is funny if you can. But being bullied by my peers and not getting helped by the teachers wasn't really helping with my confidence or mental state. Obviously I am a lot happier but this school made my childhood an unhappy hell that you cannot wait to get out of. In Conclusion; DO NOT let your children attend this awful school, it may have fancy gadgets and the newest touch-board instead of a projector. Believe me when I say this, this school can't deal with bullying, behavioural problems, balance in finance and education. Thanks to this school I am in mathematical support because they did not bother giving me any help when I clearly needed it. I am glad that I am not in this school and I do hope, from the bottom of my heart, most of you get bankrupt and thrown in poverty to experience hell -- what you put me through."
