"It's a shame to give this place such a low score because the location is ideal and the place itself is nice and has some real potential. Having said that, our room was pretty unappealing for a few reasons. The curtains don't keep light out as there's a 6 inch gap between the curtains and the ceiling, so the room is light at 6am at this time of year. The 2 windows don't lock properly (see pictures) and it's a ground floor room, so really not ideal. The curtains were also covered in stains. There are 2 fire escape signs with bright green lights on them inside the bedroom, which light the room up all night. The bed was incredibly soft and the mattress felt like it could have been years old, you could feel every spring. Possibly the worst mattress I've ever slept on. There was rust on the bathroom fixtures, and a massive crack running across the bathroom floor. Our bedside lamps had 1 bulb that worked for the 3 light fittings. The fire doors that are in the hallway aren't soft close so if someone just let's the door go it slams incredibly loud, which happened multiple times throughout the night and woke us up. Luckily we were only here to visit friends on a boat for 3 days so we barely had to spend any time here. It could be a really nice place if it just had a little money spent on the rooms."
"Large family group travelled down from Scotland to lay my father to rest. Confused when arrived as to how to check in as that hadn’t been made clear when booking. Eventually worked it out! Accommodation in the 2 Barns that we got was spacious and at first sight clean. However once we were in various things appeared that we weren’t happy with. The place really needed a good clean, I know it’s in the countryside but some of the dust and cobwebs had been there for a long time. The oven definitely had NOT been properly cleaned for quite a while. Didn’t make us want to do much cooking. We had 2 fridge freezers in our barn, which would be very nice but both were small, iced up and not particularly clean. ( I went on holiday to get away from having to clean). One of the fridge/freezers was replaced but still needed cleaning. The sofas were okay, comfortable and large. The high chair for our 18month old grandson was a great size but needed… you got it, a really good clean before we could put him in it. The beds were adequate but the double in the master bedroom was so noisy we ended up putting the mattress on the floor. The bed frame had been ‘mended’ a few times and there were screws sticking out all over the place. We were there for a week all told and saw a lot of coming and going. Every time someone vacated Owen ( the Manager cum handyman, launderer, groundsman + ) would be washing all the bedding, towels etc and hanging it all on washing lines to dry. If he ran out of space he would use our patio trellises to drape sheets & duvet covers over. Annoying as he didn’t ask, just did it, but also they weren’t exactly clean trellises!! It’s a shame the pond was dried up as that might have been fun to have but I guess that’s not the owners fault. On a plus the location was perfect for what we wanted, it was a reasonable price and could accommodate 12 people. All in all if they gave it a good clean and gave Owen some help around the place I would consider going back but at the moment that’s definitely not going to happen any time soon. Also although Owen not really a people person he did help me out if I asked him for anything ie screwdriver and clothes horse."
"The double room was beautiful, clean, fresh.Tea and coffee making facilities.A wee fridge.Shower gels and shampoo too.It is quite clear when booking what the arrival procedure is.You are left to be quite independent which was great. Certainly can't understand why it is not rated higher as 5 stars is rating it excellent which it truly is.Would not hesitate staying again and recommending it. Extremely quiet, just perfect and our dog had a very comfortable break too"
"Good accommodation. Good Area around. Worth a visit for couple of days. Don’t expect any service on day, but the host helps over the phone. Spar, McDonalds not very far from the location. Farm areas around make the location worth a visit. Short walks around the village and pub is worth it. Cornflower Barn, Poppy Barn are 2 and 3 bed Barns. Rest are similar or smaller so depending on your party, these can be arranged."
