"I recently found myself in a very difficult situation, I’d sold my property and on the day I was due to exchange on the purchase of my new home the sale fell through. I was in a position where I had to find another property very quickly. As luck would have it, a house I’d originally wanted on London Rd in Neath had come back on the market as a buyer had pulled out. I spoke with a lady at Alison George Estate Agents, explained my urgency, stating if all is good I’ll immediately submit an offer and instruct my solicitor the same day. She was great, professional, friendly and non-pushy. I was also told the owners were desperate for a quick sale. I viewed the property and said I wanted to make an offer immediately, she told me I had to speak with Greg in the office to submit the offer. A short time later I spoke with Greg, explained my situation and urgency and submitted the offer. He informed me that company policy was to wait 24 hours to submit any offers, I again reiterated my urgency, but he said there was nothing he could do, although he’d let the sellers know I was interested. I then contacted another estate agent for another property I’d viewed, my 2nd choice, submitted an offer and had a call within 15 minutes to say it had been accepted, so I withdrew my offer with Alison George. That sale is going ahead and we’ll be looking to complete in around 6 weeks from the day of offer. I’d never sell my home with Alison George if their policy is to not submit offers for 24 hours, how many other sales have potentially been lost due to this odd policy and are their sellers aware of it? No flexibility and no appreciation of circumstances. The lady working there was great, sorry but I can’t remember her name."
