"Would give 0 stars if I could. Myself and my housemates are university students and lived in a property managed by Bishop Sullivan in 2018-19. I have not posted about our experiences with them for the past few years, but figured better late than never to give potential tenants some forewarning. Difficulties started when Julian requested we all show him our passports in-person, despite one of us living abroad and not being immediately available to do so. Bishop Sullivan remained firm that if we did not all present in-person, we would not get the tenancy. One of us then picked apart the contract and found that in-person presentation was not required and for all the fuss my housemate abroad was able to confirm his identity via a skype call. We felt that this showed Bishop Sullivan's lack of knowledge and awareness of their own contracts. More serious issues then started to crop up surrounding money, with Bishop Sullivan charging £300 each in "administrative" fees. I believe this is the maximum amount they were allowed to charge. The ban on letting agent fees came in on the 1 June 2019 and leading up to this date Julian exerted considerable pressure on us to try and sign so that we would have had to pay ANOTHER £300 before the ban came into effect. In the end they upped the rent (probably to make up for the loss of fees) which enticed us to move out and be rid of both Julian and Bishop Sullivan. Then at the end of our tenancy despite us getting professional cleaners and leaving the house in a frankly better state than the hovel we moved into, Julian had the gall to try and charge us £500 for cleaning, and listed "removal of a wicker basket" as one of the items that we needed to pay for (???). We disputed £450 of this along with another £50 for other miscellaneous costs he tried to charge us for and the adjudicator ruled 100% in our favour and we won the dispute outright. The dishonesty in claiming such a sum for imagined costs from a group of medical students is staggering and overall I was left with the impression of a rapacious, frankly greedy letting agent who did little to facilitate a pleasant tenancy experience. I would advise all those considering living in one of their properties to think again and spend your money elsewhere. I look forward to Bishop Sullivan's impending response, Tom."

Their consistent, friendly, professional and transparent communication throughout was greatly appreciated and it feels lovely to be moving into a letting situation where we feel equally looked after by our agents as we will look after the property!"
"Bishop Sullivan have been a godsend to me!!!! I needed to move out of my house at a time which was personally very difficult for me and I needed to rent out the house having never had to do this. Like most people, I had heard some horror stories of what estate and lettings agents can be like so I was incredibly anxious about how to decide what to do. Compared to every other company that I spoke to, Bishop Sullivan were MUCH more transparent and clear about their services without any pressure at all. The personal touch was superb which, at that difficult time for myself, made all the difference which made me choose the company. 2.5 years later, I have not looked back :-) The service is very clear, efficient and helpful. Whenever something needs to be done, I always get a very clear message from Julian about what needs to be done, what the range of options are and what he would recommend but without any pressure to go with his suggestion. Once I make my decision, everything is done seamlessly. I have never had any cause for concern and indeed, it's reached the point where I will ask Julian for his advice about other financial issues since I know that I can trust him and his advice. Importantly for me, the values of Bishop Sullivan are very close to my heart - being transparent, being fair and wherever possible to help others. Indeed, I was so impressed to find out that Julian had set up the Brighton Big Sleep Out to raise money for a charity that helps young homeless people that I joined him and others in December 2019 to sleep outside overnight on the terrace of the i360. For all the above reasons, I could not recommend Julian and Bishop Sullivan enough - one of the best decisions I ever made!"
