Reviews of Work the World
"Would absolutely do it again, this was the best experience not only for work experience but for culture differences aswell. You will get to meet many people and be able to have enjoyable experiences during weekends such as island hopping and canyoneering."
"I had a great experience with Work The World. Traveling during the pandemic was very difficult and this company could not of been more supportive and patient with me. I felt well taken care of and welcomed by the entire team. 10/10 would recommend!"
"All of the staff involved at Work the World helped run this program smoothly, made me feel comfortable in a brand new country, and made my experience so phenomenal. The housing staff were accommodating and approachable and felt like family. The program was organized, professional, and gave me the best experience I could have asked for."
"WorkTheWorld have given me the experience of a lifetime, in the 4 weeks I was in Zambia for my medical elective. They have been so helpful and supportive, right from the very start of the elective process; planning, booking, phone calls and emails to keep us informed and on track with our application. The team in Lusaka were lovely, welcoming us warmly on arrival and taking great care of us whilst we were in the house, accommodating to all our needs whilst ensuring we were having a great time! Placement in the hospital was very well organized and we were advised well on what activities to do whilst in Zambia. Overall, I had an fantastic time with the other students in the house who had become like family during my time there! Thank you so much to WorkTheWorld for making this possible, I couldn't recommend them more highly to any other students wanting to go abroad to do their electives!"
"I chose to travel to Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania with Work the World to undertake my elective placement at the beginning of 2017. The support I received both in-house and at home was amazing! Pre-departure phone calls and access to a my-trip page provided me with all of the essential information before I travelled. Choosing a reputable company to organise my elective meant that I could focus on my studies, without the stress of having to arrange my own placement. The hardest part was choosing which destination! As a result of undertaking my elective abroad, I have come back with increased confidence in my clinical abilities, communication skills, and I am more culturally aware. In addition, I now have a true understanding of what healthcare in a developing country is like, and I have an appreciation for what it means to be resourceful. Whilst in Dar Es Salaam, the programme manager was at the house throughout the day to help us arrange any weekend trips, or answer any questions about our placements. An orientation day at the start of the week meant that we were shown how to use the public transport to get to and from placement safely, and we were also taken to get local sim cards whilst in the country. This meant that we could keep in touch with each other cheaply. We were also provided with free language lessons twice a week, so we could practise our Swahili and communicate with the locals and those in our care. The house in Dar Es Salaam was beautiful! We would spend many happy nights practising African dancing around the pool. On Thursday night, we would have a BBQ night where the lovely chefs provided us with the most amazing food. In fact, the food we were provided with for the duration of our stay was amazing! At the weekends I was able to spend some time travelling around Tanzania. I was able to visit Mikumi National Park where I saw an array of wildlife. I was also able to spend some time at a local orphanage, and spend time on the beautiful beaches (both Zanzibar and Bongoyo Island are within close proximity to Dar Es Salaam). I would definitely recommend booking an elective abroad through Work the World. It was an incredible experience, and one that I will never forget. My only regret is that I couldn't stay for longer. If you choose to go to Tanzania, I can guarantee that you won't regret it. Tanzania is one of the most friendly and beautiful places that I have ever had the honour of visiting. Thank you to Work the World and the people of Tanzania, for providing me with such a life changing experience. Asante Sana."
