About Brighton Dome
Brighton Dome is a historic landmark in the heart of Brighton, located on Church Street. It is not only an establishment, but also a point of interest for both locals and visitors alike. It is an iconic venue that has played host to some of the most breathtaking performances and events for over 200 years.
Originally built as a royal stables, the building was transformed into a concert hall and theatre in the 1800s. Since then, it has undergone many extensions and refurbishments to become the multi-arts venue it is today. The Brighton Dome now consists of three separate performance spaces: the Concert Hall, the Corn Exchange, and the Studio Theatre. Each space offers a unique and intimate space for performers and audiences alike.
The Concert Hall is the largest performance space in the building, accommodating up to 1,800 people. It features a stunning pipe organ and is often used for classical music concerts, as well as other various large-scale events. The Corn Exchange, which is located directly beneath the Concert Hall, has a capacity of 700 and is used for theatre productions, comedy shows, film screenings and conferences. The Studio Theatre offers a more intimate space with a seating capacity of 170 and is perfect for small-scale theatre productions, contemporary dance performances and comedy.
Throughout the year, Brighton Dome hosts an array of events and performances that cater to all interests and ages. From the Brighton Festival and Fringe, to comedy shows, live music, and theatre productions, there is always something exciting happening at this vibrant venue.
Brighton Dome is not just a venue for entertainment, it is also home to a variety of education and outreach programmes. The charity organisation, Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival, works with schools and communities to provide opportunities for young people to participate in the arts in a meaningful way.
Overall, Brighton Dome is a truly special and unique institution that has become an integral part of the cultural landscape of Brighton and the South East of England. It is a place that brings together people from all walks of life to enjoy live entertainment, support the arts and engage with the wider community.
