"It's good for what I needed to go there for however I would go elsewhere if there was an option closer by. The cache is often rude. Which is a shame as it's a standalone store and the only one before town."
"Friendly staff fair prices for a local store"
"Prices are high, you can only pay by card from five pounds or above so not a good place to buy a quick snacks at work without pocket money. I bought their samosas. They were not freshly made, like one or even two days old and more expensive than in other shops, with barely visible filling. Once I have been there, I saw sales assistant unpacking cheapest, discounted grapes from one of the famous supermarkets and putting them in the basket loose, for way much bigger price."
"My parents opened this shop in the mid 1950’s and we lived in the flat above, no.3. All of my childhood memories revolve around here up until I was 10 years old. The store’s name then was A&J Pickerill, we didn’t have a car and my mum would walk with deliveries every lunchtime to customers. My father was able to start the business thanks to a loan from Sir Frank Sanderson who lived in the Manor House down the lane (now converted to flats) where he is buried in the private family plot at the church. My father was chauffeur to Sir Frank before that. I believe the loan was £3,000 but I might be wrong. It was interest free and repaid within 3 years."
"Staff treat you very friendly, interesting in building repours with customers.. I'm a traffic warden who needed an energy drink but was minimal of 5 pound on card so he said take it now and bring the 35p on another day... He completely forgot but once he remembered his face beamed with trust... Great products easy too find and assistance always available! I'd give them 10*"
