Reviews of Fallow
"Three for lunch. We chose to have table seating rather than at the bar so we could all talk more easily, no problem. Another time I will choose a seat at the bar as that looks like fun and the bustling atmosphere in the kitchen in full view is great. Look, this restaurant runs seamlessly from the moment you walk in with a warm welcome and friendly, attentive front of house and servers who look after you with an easy attitude (I'm told the team is second to none to work in and the staff love working there.) I liked the atmosphere very much which feels upscale but not too serious. Now to the food: the menu is attractive, innovative and diverse. There is much to like here without it being too big and complicated. The chefs were with Heston previously and it shows. We chose the set lunch menu which at £34 a head is good value. One minor niggle was the cost of sides and supplements of some items to share are small and pricey. I had the chicken kebab to start, dairy cow steak main and Chelsea tart (totally delicious!), all superb and well sized. I'm always amazed when a busy kitchen in a good restaurant is able to time the serving and presentation of dishes so perfectly and Fallow achieved this beautifully. Go and eat here, you won't be disappointed!"
"I can understand why Fallow is such a popular restaurant. The food speak for themselves. I went for all the signatures under their weekday lunch set menu: Mushroom Parfait, Dairy Cow Steak (lunch set menu was a rump) and Chelsea Tart. Everything was delicious, but the Mushroom Parfait was the absolute star! I thought I wouldn't be able to finish the toast with the parfait and I couldn't be more wrong because there was nothing left on the plate. It has become my top 3 bread experience. It keeps you keep wanting more. Everyone was so friendly, and made me feel so welcome. I will definitely return when I am back in London next!"
"Very solid restaurant with some very interesting dishes: - Mushroom Parfait with sourdough bread was the highlight. I’m not sure how they did that with mushrooms but it tasted phenomenal with such a deep rich flavour. - Corn ribs and beef ribs were good, great texture but the taste and seasoning was a bit lacklustre. - Venison Roast was one of the better roasts I’ve ever had. Plenty of veg, crispy potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, rich gravy and perfectly cooked meat. - Halibut head was a special cooked in the same way as the cod head. Easily the best cooked fish I’ve eaten, delicate and parts of the cheek were almost jelly-like. Good sauce too. - Dessert was tasty but nothing mind blowing. Overall the best British restaurant I’ve been to in London. Good service and nice being able to see chefs in kitchen. Only downside is that some dishes were a bit bland and under seasoned, but still all perfectly cooked."
"One of the best meal we had in London. The dishes were served with fresh ingredients, the staffs were attentive and friendly from start to end. Even though the restaurant was a bit noisy but the cozy and dark ambient made up for it. Love the music played in the restaurant as well. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience. I'd definitely recommend anyone to dine here."
"Simply an amazing experience, very clever cooking of some great ingredients. The lambs tongues, mushroom parfait and dairy cow were complex, nuanced and incredibly satisfying. The dairy cow steak should be the standard by which all beef is measured. On the lighter side the ceviche of scallops was fresh and brisk, the brill was expertly cooked and the delicate flavor was amazing. Tom took great care of us and was a knowledgeable and interesting guide through the menu and wine list. He treated us to a kitchen tour and a visit to the mushroom growing room. Overall just a superb meal executed by a first class team."
