"Very disappointed, Sunday lunch was very bland. Roast potatoes were hard, Yorkshire pudding tasteless, lamb was nice but could have been better, next to no gravy. Worse than that, seemed to be no staff, our waitress was disinterested and did not see our repeated attempts to call her over. I ended up going to the bar to ask for more gravy, only then were we asked how our meal was. By that time, didn’t see much point in saying that the food wasn’t good. No one came back to take payment for our meal, so again we had to go to the bar and pay. Resented paying £25 for a meal and a drink. Need to get a new chef pronto and more attentive serving staff! Lovely location should be a winner!"
"Had table booked at 4.45pm, when seated we got told most of the Sunday lunch options weren't available, considering it's a Sunday this would obviously be choice of food for the day. Then we waited for over 20 minutes before anyone even took our drinks & food order. To then wait another 25 minutes to come out. Food was less than average, beef was extremely dry, extra sides didn't even come out, hardly any gravey. Once dinner was done we then had to wait another 15 minutes for table to be cleared & offered yet again an unavailable dessert menu. Service from start to finish was very slack, girls seemed like they didn't even want to serve , attitude was poor Overall all very disappointed most definitely won't be coming back nor recommending"
"Had a great meal here today. They accommodated us at an odd time of gay, food was top draw and all cooked fresh. The lamb I had was cooked to perfection. The guy looking after us was a nice chap and very friendly and chatty. We will be back"
"Bar staff friendly and courteous, but £6.50 for a single gin and tonic is on the pricey side. Food dreadful. Burger and chips, with the chips served in a mini metal fryer cage, oh dear. Fries tasted like they had shared the same oil as the fish on the menu, and were clearly a frozen bought in product. Burger bland, overcooked, dry, unseasoned in a value range looking bun for £14. No side salad,or coleslaw for your money only the meagre bun and limp salad dressing, which looked embarrassed to be there. The barman was so friendly (and new) I didn't have the heart to complain and knowing that I won't go there again, didn't really see the point. I don't know the credentials of the 'chef' but save your money and don't eat here. The gallery pictures on the website didn't reflect my culinary experience today at all. What a shame, great location, should have been lovely."
"A really great pub. Good location alongside the canal; no doubt making it popular in summer. Our food was very tasty and the service was quick. Very pleasant staff made us feel welcome. More than happy to recommend."
